Heidi Klum has officially begun teasing her 2026 Halloween costume, and the first clue looks like either a coral reef, a pile of internal organs, or something that crawled straight out of The Last of Us.
The 53-year-old model shared an extreme close-up of what appears to be part of an elaborate prosthetic on Instagram, offering almost no useful explanation beyond one question: 'What's my costume?' The image features fleshy pink folds, blue-grey tentacle-like shapes, and shell-like pieces that make guessing particularly mind-boggling.
As reported by People, her costume will apparently be 'very, very bloody' this year. She previously teased that the transformation also 'goes very well with red wine', which somehow makes the mystery even harder to solve. What goes well with red wine aside from a charcuterie board? Then again, charcuterie boards don't typically involve blood, nor does the image look like a pleasantly appetising platter of cheese and crackers.
Fans Are Seeing Everything From Organs to Zombies
Klum's Instagram followers immediately turned the comment section into a Halloween guessing game, and there is currently very little agreement about what everyone is looking at. Several fans are convinced Klum is recreating something from The Substance, while others spotted similarities to the fungus-covered infected from The Last of Us.
One guessed a Clicker specifically, while another suggested a demogorgon from Stranger Things. Then things went underwater with a series of marine biology and Disney-related guesses. 'Coral reef', one follower guessed. Others saw Ursula from The Little Mermaid, a sea monster, Davy Jones, and even the Great Barrier Reef. Someone else simply suggested, 'Something under water'.
The anatomical theories might be even harder to unsee. Followers guessed intestines, internal organs, entrails, and the inside of a stomach.
Then there was perhaps the most radically optimistic interpretation of the disturbing pile: vegetable soup. At this point, almost anything appears to be on the dinner table.
Heidi Klum Is the Queen of Halloween
The confusion is hardly surprising for anyone familiar with Klum's annual Halloween transformations. Since launching her Halloween party in 2000, she has repeatedly chosen costumes designed to make recognising Heidi Klum underneath them part of the challenge.
Her previous transformations have included an enormous worm, Princess Fiona from Shrek, several clones of herself and, for the 25th anniversary of her Halloween celebration in 2025, Medusa.
That latest costume covered Klum in green scales and replaced her blonde hair with moving snakes. Her husband, Tom Kaulitz, joined the theme as a stone Greek soldier, playing on the myth that anyone who looked directly at Medusa would turn to stone.
Fans may not have turned to stone while admiring her Halloween costume, but plenty were definitely petrified by her commitment to her role as the Queen of Halloween. Her husband also matched her the year she dressed up as Fiona, showing up as an equally convincing Shrek.
For 2026, Klum appears determined to keep the guessing game going in every conceivable direction until All Hallows' Eve. Whether the finished costume turns out to be a mutant, monster, sea creature, or even vegetable soup, it's evident that Halloween is still synonymous with Heidi Klum.
