Jeff Sneider has apologised to actress Inde Navarrette after his social media comments sparked a fierce backlash online. The entertainment journalist deleted the posts at the centre of the controversy and admitted that his 'ego got the best' of him after going too far in his public remarks about the actress and her representatives.
But while Sneider appears to have attempted to draw a line under the drama, his apology has not exactly been met with open arms. Instead, some social media users have questioned whether he was genuinely taking responsibility or simply defending himself after facing widespread criticism.
Tired of the noise so I’ll delete and apologize, as per protocol. That way we can all move on. I am sorry to Ms. Navarrette, who was and will continue to be treated fairly, despite previous comments suggesting otherwise. She got swept up in a long-running feud. I will continue to…

Jeff Sneider's Apology to Inde Navarrette
Sneider shared his apology on X after deleting his earlier comments about Navarrette.
'Tired of the noise so I'll delete and apologise, as per protocol,' he wrote, adding that he wanted everyone to move on. He then directly addressed Navarrette, saying: 'I am sorry to Ms Navarrette, who was and will continue to be treated fairly, despite previous comments suggesting otherwise.'
Sneider claimed Navarrette had been 'swept up in a long-running feud' and said he would continue to report on Hollywood and challenge what he described as the industry's 'gatekeepers'.
Still, he acknowledged that his own behaviour had crossed a line.
'But my ego got the best of me and I went overboard with my victory celebration,' Sneider admitted.
The journalist also spent part of the post responding to the criticism aimed at him, claiming he had received death threats and anti-Semitic comments from some people online.
He ended by saying he would take the holiday weekend to reflect, adding: 'Maybe I'll return kinder and gentler. Let's hope you do the same.'

Critics Say the Apology Missed the Mark
The response from social media users was hardly forgiving.
Instead of seeing the statement as a straightforward apology, several critics accused Sneider of turning the situation around and presenting himself as the victim. One person described it as the 'I'm the real victim' grift'. Others said it was 'fake' and 'one of the worst apologies ever'.
Other critics focused on the seriousness of his original comments, particularly the suggestion that he could publish private or damaging information about Navarrette. 'I think what you did was pretty dumb. You just ruined your credibility and like maybe your career,' one comment read.
Another pointed out the irony of his words, writing: 'You're such a piece of s***, you openly threatened someone on social media and then act surprised people reacted. Talking about others need to look in the mirror? You're a pathetic human.'
That’s pretty fucked up basically trying to blackmail a young actress & her team. Not that you care but I had you at such a high standard. I thought you were a real one man. Massive loss of respect.

Oof. Starting to really see the nightmare you are. Your fake ass apology to the and save whatever/whoever the fuck you think you are. I want to believe you’re sorry, but you’re horrid. Leave her alone and stop trying to milk what you can sink your nasty fingers into.

What Sparked the Backlash
The controversy began when Sneider publicly discussed his attempts to communicate with Navarrette's representatives.
In posts that were later deleted, he said he planned to cover Navarrette for a long time and suggested he could either be a useful friend to her team or publish everything he heard about her.
When another user accused him of complaining, Sneider doubled down, writing: 'Complaining? I wasn't complaining. That was a threat!' He subsequently warned that Navarrette could face 'non-stop rumours', intensifying the reaction to his posts.
The comments quickly drew criticism. Internet users criticised his decision to publicly pressure an actress and her representatives over access and communication.
