Jennifer Rauchet, wife of United States Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, caught many off guard with her unexpected outfit choice at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, quickly becoming one of the night's most-talked-about appearances.

Within hours, social media lit up with speculation that the dress resembled a budget piece from fast-fashion retailer Temu, with some users even circulating side-by-side comparisons.

Others pushed back, arguing there's no confirmed proof for its origin and that the look may have simply been copied by online marketplaces, a common phenomenon in today's fashion ecosystem.

Jennifer's Temu Dress Debate

Rauchet turned heads in a curve-hugging blush-pink gown featuring silk and off-the-shoulder detailing that gave the look a soft, romantic edge. The waist was cinched with a matching silk sash and finished with a gunmetal-toned, sparkling brooch, adding contrast to the otherwise delicate palette.

She paired the ensemble with a blush pink handbag adorned with floral appliqués and chunky, braided metallic silver heels that appear to have once been sold by Steve Madden.

She completed the look with an elegant updo, diamond earrings, and a coordinating diamond necklace, leaning into a polished, evening-ready aesthetic.

But the conversation quickly went beyond styling. Rather than a confirmed designer piece, a strikingly similar dress is currently listed on fast-fashion retailer Shein for about $42. According to Daily Mail, versions of the same design were also previously available on Temu.

It is an online marketplace known for sourcing products from factories in China for as little as $14, as well as on Amazon, fueling further speculation about the gown's origins.

Social Media Reacts to Jennifer's Look

Rauchet's budget-friendly ensemble is quickly gaining traction online, with users across X speculating that the gown may have come from Temu.

One user wrote, 'Pete Hegseth's wife wore a dress from Temu to the White House Correspondents' Dinner (I'm not joking)', alongside that appeared to show a similar product's original listing on the site, as The Cut reported.

'An absolute baller move!' wrote Joey Jones in response to the viral discussion.

Others echoed similar sentiments, with one user posting, 'I respect the hell out of that. I shop for used clothing to save money', while another added, 'Had she shown up in something expensive, even from Saks, they would have complained too.'

Some commenters framed the look in a different way as aspirational. 'If this is true, how cool it shows that anybody can dress as nicely as she does', one person wrote.

Despite the growing buzz, Rauchet has not confirmed whether the dress was purchased from Temu, Shein, or sourced elsewhere.

Although the listing now appears as 'discontinued' on Temu, identical versions of the dress continue to surface across other drop-shipping fashion sites, including Amazon and AliExpress, where the design is also available in black.

Glamour and Tension at the White House Correspondents' Dinner

Even online users swirled around Rauchet's much-discussed dress, the White House Correspondents' Dinner delivered its usual mix of spectacle and high-profile appearances.

Guests already posed extensively on the red carpet, showcasing formal looks and commanding attention long before the evening took a more alarming turn. According to reports, the event was later overshadowed by a security scare after an alleged gunman attempted to target members of the Trump administration.

Among notable attendees were Donald Trump, Melanie Trump, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, and FBI Director Kash Patel, underscoring the event's significance as both a social and political gathering.
