A year after becoming the internet's most infamous meme, Kristin Cabot is stepping back into the public eye. The former tech executive was dubbed the 'Coldplay Kiss Lady' after the globacl scandal. Cabot has found a powerful and unexpected ally in Monica Lewinsky, even as she hits back at Gwyneth Paltrow for turning her real-life nightmare into a corporate punchline.
The ultimate humiliation occurred when Cabot and her married CEO boss, Andy Byron, were caught looking cosy on a stadium Jumbotron during a Coldplay concert. Their sheer panic went viral. They triggered a vicious online witch-hunt that forced both bosses to resign from data firm Astronomer.
'Deeply Hurt'
While Cabot's life was falling apart, Hollywood star Gwyneth Paltrow capitalised on the drama by filming a mocking commercial for Astronomer. The Goop founder was famously married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. In the advert, the actress jokingly claimed she had stepped in as a temporary spokesperson to handle the company's sudden notoriety.
Cabot claimed she was hurt by the celebrity stunt. She blasted the Goop founder as a blatant 'hypocrite', pointing out that Paltrow had begged for kindness during her own famous 'conscious uncoupling'. The former tech executive claimed she was outraged by the multi-millionaire's cruelty. Following the advert, she reportedly binned her Goop wellness products in disgust.
Death Threats and Relentless Paparazzi
While Hollywood laughed, the reality for the mother-of-two was devastating. Speaking in an interview, Cabot revealed that the scandal left her completely unemployed for a year. To stay afloat, she has been forced to drain her own retirement savings and raid her children's university funds.
She was also relentlessly hounded by paparazzi and bombarded with horrifying death threats. 'I made a mistake. I'll own that all day,' Cabot confessed. 'I made a really poor judgement call in the moment... But, I mean, you shouldn't be killed for that.'
Lewinsky To The Rescue
Recognising the immense trauma of international public shaming, Monica Lewinsky reached out privately to offer her support. The anti-bullying activist and former White House intern gave Cabot much-needed comfort.
Lewinsky famously survived her own global media storm involving a married man in power. Cabot revealed Lewinsky provided her with 'hope that things could go back to normal.'
Inspired to turn her pain into purpose, Cabot has channelled her recovery into working with Pirth.org, a non-profit organisation that supports victims of severe online harassment. 'Talking about [the harassment] and trying to make an impact is going to help me heal,' she explained.
Getting Back to Normal
Proving she is finally reclaiming her life, Cabot recently celebrated a major milestone by attending her very first live music gig since the incident. She attended a Jack Johnson concert in New Hampshire. Playfully noting that the venue had 'no Jumbotron', Cabot shared a lighthearted moment with a fellow concertgoer who recognised her, humorously telling them to 'zip it!'
As for the man caught alongside her on camera? Her relationship with Andy Byron is officially over. Confirming the pair have permanently parted ways, Cabot cited a distinct 'lack of transparency, and maybe not as much honesty as I would have liked,' leaving her to rebuild her future entirely on her own terms.
