Jonathan Andic, son of Mango founder Isak Andic, has been arrested and named a suspect in connection with a 2024 death case. What was initially treated as a tragic accident has now been reopened as a criminal investigation under intense scrutiny.
The case has placed one of Europe's most recognisable fashion families, behind the global high-street brand Mango, at the centre of a rapidly evolving probe.
Jonathan Andic's Arrest: What We Know
In a report by The Guardian, Mango heir Jonathan has been arrested by the Spain's regional police force. He was later released on €1 million (£866,000) bail after being questioned in connection with his father's death almost 18 months ago.
Jonathan, who is now vice-chair of the Mango board, was brought before a judge on Tuesday, 19 May. He was released under strict conditions, including surrendering his passport, remaining in Spain, and appearing weekly before the court while the investigation continues.
The case is currently being investigated as a possible homicide, marking a major development after the death was previously considered an accident.

Who Is Jonathan Andic?
Jonathan Andic is the son of Isak Andic, the billionaire businessman who co-founded Mango and built it into one of Europe's leading fashion retailers. He is 45 and has long been involved in the company's operations, particularly within Mango Man, the brand's menswear division.
According to Reuters, Jonathan has held several senior roles within Mango over the years. Since January 2025, he has served as non-executive vice chairman of Mango's board. Prior to that, he spent 18 years managing the company's menswear line, playing a key role in shaping its direction and identity.
His involvement in Mango goes back even further. Between 2014 and 2017, he served as one of two vice presidents under his father, who was then president of the company. During that period, his responsibilities included product development, brand image, graphic design, technological procurement, and creative projects.
He later became executive vice chairman until 2019, before being named director of Mango Man and construction manager in 2021.
Ownership of Mango remains firmly within the family structure. Jonathan and his two sisters collectively own around 95% of the company.

What Happened to Isak Andic?
Isak Andic died in December 2024 after a fall while hiking in the Montserrat mountains near Barcelona. He was on an excursion in a well-known but rocky area outside the city, specifically around the Salnitre de Collbató caves.
Based on early accounts, Isak fell from a steep section of the trail. Emergency services were called to the scene, but he could not be saved due to the severity of his injuries. He was 71 at the time of his death.
Reports confirm he was hiking with members of his family, including his son Jonathan, when the incident happened.
How Mango Became a Fashion Giant
Founded in Barcelona by Isak Andic in 1984, Mango quickly grew from a single retail concept into a major international fashion brand.
The company built its reputation on accessible and trend-led clothing that sits firmly in the fast-fashion space, competing with other global high-street names. Over the years, Mango expanded across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and beyond, becoming a staple in many urban shopping districts.
Isak Andic was widely credited with steering that expansion, turning Mango into one of Spain's biggest fashion exports and a globally recognised retail name.
