Millie Bobby Brown has opened up about the emotional toll of saying goodbye to Stranger Things, revealing that she called several of her co-stars after filming ended because she feared their friendships might not survive beyond the show.

While appearing at 92NY to promote her upcoming film Enola Holmes 3, the actress reflected on the end of the Netflix phenomenon that shaped much of her childhood and teenage years. Brown admitted she struggled with the transition and wanted reassurance that the cast would remain close even after production wrapped.

The 21-year-old star shared that saying goodbye to both the series and her longtime castmates was far more difficult than she expected, describing the end of the show as an emotional experience that left a lasting impact on her.

Millie Bobby Brown Reached Out to Her 'Stranger Things' Co-Stars

Brown said she spent part of January reconnecting with members of the cast after the series ended, explaining that she felt anxious about no longer seeing them every day after working together for a decade.

'I was like, "We're still friends, right? Like, you're not gonna stop talking to me anymore?"' she recalled. Brown also said she apologised if she had ever upset anyone, adding that she wanted to make sure there were no unresolved issues before everyone moved on to new projects.

The actress described her co-stars as family and said their bond extends far beyond the television series that made them famous.

Why the End of 'Stranger Things' Hit Her So Hard

Although Brown is known for her upbeat personality, she admitted that the end of Stranger Things affected her more deeply than she expected.

The actress revealed that she experienced what she described as a 'slight, slight depression' after filming wrapped, explaining that the show's ending marked the close of a major chapter in her life.

Brown said the adjustment was difficult because the cast, crew and routines of the series had been part of her everyday life since childhood. For the first time in years, she was forced to imagine a future without the show that helped launch her career.

Rewatching Mike and Eleven's Final Moments

During her 92NY appearance, Brown also became emotional while revisiting scenes from the final season, particularly moments shared between Eleven and Mike Wheeler, played by Finn Wolfhard. Audience members watched as the actress appeared to tear up while reflecting on a relationship that had been at the heart of Stranger Things since the show's earliest episodes.

For Brown, the scenes were a reminder of how much she and Wolfhard had grown up together while bringing the beloved couple to life on screen. Their characters' journey spanned nearly a decade, making the final moments between Mike and Eleven especially meaningful for both the cast and longtime fans.

The emotional reaction highlighted not only Brown's attachment to Eleven but also the bond she shared with her fellow castmates throughout the series. As Stranger Things comes to an end, revisiting those scenes appeared to underscore just how important the show's relationships, both on and off screen, have been during her 10-year journey.

Growing Up Alongside Eleven

Brown was only 10 years old when she was cast as Eleven in the first season of Stranger Things. Over the years, the role transformed her into one of Hollywood's most recognisable young stars.

The actress said the character became such a large part of her identity that leaving her behind felt deeply personal. After spending a decade growing up on screen, Brown admitted that saying goodbye to Eleven was one of the hardest parts of ending the series.

'Saying goodbye to that after 10 years was a very, very emotional thing, and I'm going to miss Eleven more than anything', she said.

While Brown is already focused on new projects, her comments made it clear that the friendships, memories and experiences she gained through Stranger Things will remain an important part of her life long after the final episode airs.
