Below Deck Mediterranean star Nathan Gallagher has spoken publicly for the first time since his arrest in Australia last year, saying he believes the public has heard only one side of the events surrounding the domestic violence allegations against him. The reality television star said he has evidence that he believes could provide further context, while acknowledging that he 'made mistakes' during the relationship.

Gallagher's statement comes as his personal life continues to attract attention alongside his appearances on the current season of Below Deck Mediterranean. The 27-year-old Irish bosun said his biggest concern is his young son, whom he shares with fellow cast member Gael Cameron, and stressed that he wants to find a way to co-parent without turning their family situation into a public battle.

Nathan Gallagher Addresses Arrest

Gallagher was arrested in Australia on 27 December 2025 following an alleged incident involving a 29-year-old woman at an apartment complex in the Sydney area.

New South Wales Police charged him with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, intentionally choking a person without consent and common assault. Gallagher has pleaded not guilty to the charges and was later released on conditional bail. His next court hearing is scheduled for 1 September 2026.

The woman was not named in the police material. However, court proceedings and Gallagher's own statement appear to connect the case to Cameron, his former partner and Below Deck Mediterranean co-star. An apprehended violence application has also been filed against Gallagher.

Gallagher has now challenged the idea that the publicly reported account represents the entire situation.

'I don't believe the public has heard the full story surrounding what happened,' he said in a statement. He added that what had been reported so far represented 'only one side' of what he described as an 'extremely complicated situation'.

Reality Star Says He Has Evidence

One of the most significant elements of Gallagher's statement is his claim that he has material that could provide another perspective on the events leading to his arrest.

The reality star said he has contemporaneous video footage from the night in question, alongside messages and other records. According to Gallagher, he believes the material contains important context and details that have not previously been made public.

He said he was willing to provide relevant footage so that it could be assessed independently.

However, Rolling Stone reported that it asked Gallagher to review the materials he referenced before publication but did not receive a response. The alleged evidence has not been independently assessed or established in the public record.

Gallagher also referred to other matters connected to his relationship with Cameron, including the circumstances surrounding their separation, previous allegations involving a former partner and financial issues concerning an apartment in Sydney.

He stressed that he did not intend to publish private documents or make accusations on social media, saying he had retained the material and would deal with it through the appropriate legal channels.

'I Made Mistakes', Gallagher Says

While disputing what he considers an incomplete portrayal of the situation, Gallagher also stopped short of presenting himself as blameless.

'I'm not claiming I was perfect. I wasn't. I made mistakes, and I will take responsibility for my own actions,' he said.

At the same time, he said he would not accept being defined solely by one account of a relationship, arguing that there was another side to the story and evidence relating to it. The distinction is important as the criminal proceedings remain unresolved. Gallagher has been charged, but the allegations have not been proven in court.

Son Is His 'Biggest Concern'

Beyond the legal proceedings, Gallagher said his main priority is the young son he shares with Cameron.

The pair met while filming Season Nine of Below Deck Mediterranean and began a relationship while working together on the deck team. They later welcomed their son, while their relationship and co-parenting struggles became part of the show's storyline.

Gallagher said he was particularly concerned about what his son might one day read about his parents online.

'My biggest concern is my son,' he said, adding that he did not want his child's upbringing to become 'a public battle'.

The legal dispute is now set to move towards another significant date, with Gallagher due back before the court on 1 September. Until then, the allegations remain matters for the Australian legal system to determine.
