Her popularity quickly exploded. She collaborated with fellow creators, amassed millions of views and even opened for Selena Gomez & the Scene. By the time she competed on Season 6 of The Voice in 2014, she was already a rising star. Details About Her Death
On 10 June 2016, Grimmie performed at The Plaza Live in Orlando alongside the band Before You Exit. After the concert, she stayed behind for a meet-and-greet, doing what she had always done best: connecting with fans.
About 20 minutes into the autograph session, 27-year-old Kevin James Loibl approached her in line. According to reports, Grimmie opened her arms to hug him.
Instead, Loibl pulled out a firearm and shot the singer three times, striking her in the head and chest. Her brother, Marcus Grimmie, immediately tackled the gunman in a desperate attempt to stop him. Loibl managed to break free before turning the weapon on himself. Grimmie was rushed to hospital but died later that evening. She was just 22 years old.
Disturbing Obsession Behind the Attack
Investigators later revealed that Loibl had travelled from his hometown of St Petersburg, Florida, specifically to carry out the attack. Police said he had legally purchased two handguns and brought a hunting knife with him.
Although Loibl never left behind a note explaining his actions, people who knew him painted an unsettling picture. Friend Cory Dennington reportedly told investigators that Loibl had become fixated on Grimmie, spending countless hours watching her YouTube videos and monitoring her social media activity.
Dennington claimed Loibl believed Grimmie was his 'soulmate' and became defensive whenever anyone questioned whether a relationship between them was possible. A concertgoer also later described the gunman as appearing 'kinda creepy' while waiting in line.

Selena Gomez also expressed her heartbreak, writing: 'My heart is absolutely broken. I miss you Christina.'
