Canadian pop star and dancer Tate McRae turned Chicago's Grant Park into her personal runway during Lollapalooza 2026. It coincided with the global launch of her new activewear collaboration with Adidas.
As the 'Greedy' hitmaker took to the main stage as one of the music festival's most anticipated headliners, the German sportswear titan has officially dropped the Adidas Originals Sport collection.
The latest drop from the global brand is an innovative womenswear line. It is fronted by McRae alongside Argentine pop artist Emilia Mernes and American volleyball star Harper Murray.
The pop star combined high-octane stage performance with effortless streetwear aesthetics. The new Originals Sport capsule reinterprets Adidas' rich archival design language for a new generation of fitness enthusiasts. The new design drew primary inspiration from the brand's legendary Superstar tracksuit.
Designed for the Woman on the Go
The range translates historic three-stripe detailing and the iconic Trefoil emblem into sleek workout wear designed for women on the go.
The new line is designed to handle intense dance choreography as well as gym workouts. The versatile activewear range features performance sports bras, high-waisted flared leggings, bodysuits, tank tops, and lightweight layering garments.
Some of the pieces showcased in McRae's promotional campaign include the standout Originals Sport Onesie in a rich maroon colourway retailing at $70 (£50). Another piece that was dropped was the Originals Sport Superstar Bra Tee at $60 (£45) paired with coordinating tights.
To ensure functional excellence alongside visual polish, Adidas constructed the entire collection around three proprietary fabric technologies. Climacool for targeted ventilation and temperature control, AdiSoft for a plush, lightweight feel against the skin, and Lycra Adaptiv for four-way stretch responsiveness that contours to every movement.
Redefining Performance
Lisann Costello, Adidas' Global Vice President of Sportswear and Training Partnerships, emphasised the changing expectations of modern female athletes and performers.
'For years, there was an expectation that serious training came with a certain uniform,' Costello stated during the collection's unveiling. 'Today, women are redefining what performance looks like. They want workout wear that reflects who they are, not just what they're doing. Originals Sport brings together the style heritage of Adidas Originals with the performance expertise Adidas is known for, allowing women to train without compromising between performance and self-expression'.
Costello pointed out that McRae captures this cultural shift. The new sports line bridges the gap between athletic conditioning and pop-star glamour through her demanding live tour routines.
