Vans is giving sneakerheads another chance to get their hands on its sought-after Satoshi Nakamoto collaboration, releasing a navy version of the Era 95 Gems online after the original black pair sparked a chaotic scene outside the brand's New York City store in April. The latest release brings back the collaboration's distressed aesthetic, colourful embellishments and unconventional construction.
The OTW by Vans x Satoshi Nakamoto Era 95 Gems in navy will retail for $195 (£147) and launch on 16 October via vans.com/otw. The wider online release follows the original black-canvas edition's debut on 30 April, which attracted a large crowd to the brand's Fifth Avenue store and prompted a police response. The navy colourway was also scheduled for a release at ComplexCon in Los Angeles on 3–4 October.
Vans' Satoshi Nakamoto Sneakers Get a Navy Makeover
The latest collaboration reimagines the classic Vans Era silhouette with a navy canvas upper designed to tear away gradually, revealing a hidden pattern underneath. Exposed foam around the collar adds to the deliberately unfinished appearance, while distressed detailing gives the shoes a worn-in aesthetic straight out of the box.
Multicoloured gemstones along the collar and toe provide a striking contrast to the dark upper, while the laces feature a repeating 'Satoshi' print and sandblasted bead detailing. The design also includes a black-and-yellow hand-wiped finish along the sidewall, a distressed foxing stripe and a translucent outsole that reveals the Satoshi Nakamoto name.

Rather than concealing signs of wear, the design makes them part of the appeal. The tearaway material and exposed construction reflect the collaboration's emphasis on transformation and imperfection, giving the familiar low-top sneaker a more experimental look.
Original Release Drew Police to Vans' Fifth Avenue Store
The navy release follows the debut of the black-canvas Era 95 Gems on 30 April, when a large crowd gathered outside Vans' Fifth Avenue store in New York City. The situation prompted a police response early that morning, hours before the store was scheduled to open.
Manhattan: West 45th Street & 5th Avenue, hundreds of sneakerheads flooded Midtown Manhattan this morning for the Satoshi Nakamoto x Vans Era 95 drop, one of the most hyped releases of the year, and things got ugly fast.

According to Footwear News, the New York City Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting disorderly conduct at 6.25am, more than three hours before the store was due to open. Two people were issued summonses and released, according to reports, and no injuries were reported.
The launch illustrated the level of attention the collaboration had attracted among sneaker enthusiasts. The shoes combine Vans' recognisable skate-inspired silhouette with embellishments and an intentionally distressed finish that sets them apart from the brand's more traditional releases.
Satoshi Nakamoto Sneakers Attract Resale Interest
The collaboration has also attracted attention on the resale market, where some pairs have reportedly been listed for substantially more than their original retail price. According to Footwear News, some Satoshi Nakamoto Vans sneakers have reached asking prices of as much as $2,000 (£1,510) on the secondary market, although listings do not necessarily reflect completed sales.

Satoshi Nakamoto is a Los Angeles-based streetwear label named after the pseudonym associated with Bitcoin's mysterious creator. The brand has been linked to creative George Robertson and draws on underground fashion, vintage Americana and distressed design, making its partnership with Vans' OTW line a natural fit for a sneaker that embraces unconventional materials and a deliberately weathered appearance.
With the navy Era 95 Gems arriving online on 16 October sneaker fans will have another opportunity to buy the collaboration at its $195 retail price. Whether the wider online release will generate the same frenzy as the original black launch remains to be seen.
