Adrianne Curry has criticised Victoria's Secret's casting choices for its 2026 fashion show. She argued that the brand has moved away from the exclusive standards she remembered from its earlier years.
During a 19 October livestream on her YouTube channel, Curry expressed concerns about the inclusion of Kylie Jenner and a 'transgender' model, which many believe refers to Alex Consani.
Curry, who won the first season of America's Next Top Model in 2003, made these remarks while discussing how the show has evolved over the years. However, her comments prompted online reactions. Many defended Consani's role in the fashion industry and questioned Curry's political views.
'They Have No Standards Anymore'
She argued that the brand has abandoned the selectivity that once defined its runway shows. Curry stated, 'They have no standards anymore, and it's a joke. Anyone can walk in it. They turned down famous Victoria's Secret models who f–ing look great to put a transgender person in there and a f–ing Kardashian,' Curry said.
'It would be one thing if the trans model looked like a f–ing ladyboy from, you know, Bangkok where you couldn't tell at all and it's the most beautiful f–ing woman you've ever seen in your life. That's not what happened. Mid. I'm mid. I wasn't good enough for Victoria's Secret back in the day. I was not good enough.'
Victoria's Secret's 2026 show featured Jenner wearing the Fantasy Bra, a $50 million (£37.4 million) design created in collaboration with jeweller Jacob & Co. Consani also walked the runway alongside models such as Bella Hadid, Adriana Lima, and Ashley Graham.
Curry compared the current show to its previous runways. She then named Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford as examples of the quality she linked to Victoria's Secret before 2008.
Online Reactions Differ
Curry's comments received criticism on social media, with some users defending Consani's professional qualifications and questioning Curry's political views. One commenter wrote, 'Meanwhile, Alex Consani is a legit high-fashion model with serious editorial chops. If anything, the VS runway is sort of beneath her.'
Another user questioned Curry's political affiliation and writing: 'Isn't she MAGA?' A separate commenter responded by sharing links to Wikipedia entries detailing Curry's 2024 political shift.
'In 2024, Curry announced on social media that after being a "lifetime Democrat" she had left the party and endorsed Donald Trump. In explaining her decision, she said, "I'll never forget when they started pushing extremist views about gender, identity, and kids...and then GASLIGHT people about it. I'll never forget their campaign to convince Americans that being morbidly obese is healthy. I'll never forget that they robbed Bernie twice and later RFK Jr. Of that sweet democracy they claim to be for To INSTALL Hillary & Kamala. I'll never forget all the Trump media hoaxes I debunked in 2020 by watching the full unedited videos." She added that leaving the Democratic Party was like "leaving a cult,"' the commenter wrote.
The commenter's reply also included a harsh personal assessment of Curry, writing: 'Yeah she objectively a fucking moron.' Another commenter defended Kylie and wrote, 'She's such a hateful arsehole.' Regardless of how you feel about the Kardashians, Kylie is gorgeous and has massive appeal. As is Alex.'

Curry Addresses Backlash
Curry subsequently responded to public reactions to her remarks through an Instagram video and a YouTube livestream. According to Entertainment Weekly, Curry later addressed accusations of body-shaming over her remarks about Jenner's height and appearance. She clarified that she did not find Jenner unattractive, but stated that Jenner does not align with her view of a traditional fashion model.
Curry stated that modelling has become less exclusive and that the distinction between celebrity and professional modelling is increasingly ambiguous. 'It's like, they just hire anyone to go up there now. There is nothing elite about it,' she said. 'Now it's anyone. Oh, are you a paraplegic? Cool, you're a model.'
A Show Blending Nostalgia and Pop
The 18 October show took place at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, Los Angeles, marking Victoria's Secret's first return to the city in 19 years. Bella Hadid opened the runway. Gigi Hadid, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Ashley Graham, and Candice Swanepoel also appeared.
Consani also joined the lineup, while Jenner wore the $50 million Fantasy Bra on the runway. Victoria's Secret brought the signature piece back for the first time since 2018. The event further featured elaborate wings and lingerie, along with performances by Megan Thee Stallion, Tate McRae, country singer Megan Moroney, and girl group KATSEYE.
The show introduced Solange Omon, a 21-year-old Cameroonian model living in Maine, as its newest Angel. The mix of returning models, new talent, celebrity guests, and live music demonstrates the brand's commitment to maintaining its theatrical heritage while engaging a modern audience.
