Sometimes the internet takes a rare day off from arguing and collectively decides to be happy for two people. That appears to be what happened when Brenda Song and Macaulay Culkin attended the Emmy Awards. The couple inspired a Reddit comment section so relentlessly wholesome that scrolling through it practically counts as digital self-care.

There was also one tiny detail fuelling the warm and fuzzy feelings: Song and Culkin might not officially be Mr and Mrs just yet, but they certainly seem to enjoy teasing everyone about when that title could become accurate.

'Mr and Mrs Culkin' Soon?

The couple attended Warner Bros. Television Group's 78th Primetime Emmy Awards Nominees Celebration in West Hollywood on Sunday, 13 September, where a photographer accidentally addressed them as 'Mr and Mrs Culkin'.

Song quickly corrected the premature promotion.

'Not yet! Not yet!' the 38-year-old actress said before adding one very important word: 'Soon!'

Culkin, 46, was apparently not going to let his fiancée have the final word.

'Maybe someday, if I'm lucky!' he joked.

Translation: no secret wedding announcement here, but anyone already mentally shopping for wedding confetti has not exactly been told to return it.

The longtime couple began dating in 2017 and share two sons, Dakota, born in 2021, and Carson, born in 2022. Culkin first proposed in 2022, before giving the engagement another go last year with assistance from their sons.

Funny enough, that second proposal did not go entirely according to script. Then again, unscripted moments tend to be the sweetest ones.

Chatting with Kylie Kelce on an episode of her Not Gonna Lie podcast, Song recalled that Culkin had rehearsed a sweet 'Will you marry us?' moment with the boys. Instead, their youngest enthusiastically shouted 'Ram's House!', thanks to Song's dedication to turning her children into fellow Los Angeles Rams fans.

Clearly, romance and football can coexist.

Fans Are in Love With This Celebrity Couple

A day later, Song and Culkin took their date night to the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, where Culkin was among the ceremony's presenters. Song wore a sparkling Oscar de la Renta gown, while Culkin complemented her in an ivory Gabriela Hearst tuxedo jacket.

Their appearance subsequently landed on Reddit, where the usual chaos was temporarily replaced by what can only be described as a group hug. Truly a rare occurrence to see an entire social media thread wherein no one was fighting.

'Amazing, beautiful couple. No notes,' one person declared.

Another wrote, 'They look at each other like they both won in the relationship. Ugh. I love love ❤️.'

'One of the few celebrity couples who always genuinely seem happy to be around each other lol,' a third added.

Others simply called them 'couple goals', 'very cute together', and 'beautiful', while several commenters said seeing Culkin seemingly happy now genuinely warmed their hearts.

Then one comment just decoded exactly why this couple serves as a serotonin boost for modern society: 'Unproblematic.'

It might be the closest a celebrity Reddit thread has ever come to receiving a prescription for emotional support.

From 'The Suite Life' to 'Home Alone': The Hotel Kids

Part of the affection surrounding Song and Culkin comes from how long audiences have known both of them onscreen.

Culkin became one of Hollywood's most recognisable child stars through Home Alone, while Song became a Disney Channel icon, particularly beloved for playing London Tipton in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. Fans fondly talk about how their common denominator is the hotel theme.

Now, they are raising two children of their own, occasionally walking red carpets together and, apparently, accidentally getting upgraded to husband and wife by photographers.

For now, Song has made their actual status clear: not yet.

What fans are cheering about is the 'yet'. Until then, fans appear perfectly content with its current assignment: looking at photos of Brenda Song and Macaulay Culkin being adorable while manifesting their wedding soon.

Sometimes, all you need to cleanse your feed is a little bit of the sweet life and a little bit of home.
