Jennifer Lawrence's latest magazine photoshoot has sparked renewed discussion about her appearance, with a plastic surgeon suggesting that changes around her eyes could match certain cosmetic procedures. The actress has not confirmed that she underwent eyelid surgery, and the specialist's assessment is based on photographs rather than a personal examination.

The Oscar-winning actress appeared in the October/November 2026 issue of The Cut, where she discussed her beauty routine, cosmetic procedures and her new haircare brand, Mes° Beauty. The accompanying photographs, taken by Bryce Anderson, attracted attention online, with some viewers questioning why Lawrence looked different from her earlier public appearances.

Plastic Surgeon Notes Changes Around Lawrence's Eyes

Plastic surgeon Dr Melinda Lacerna Kimbrell has identified possible changes around Jennifer Lawrence's eyes in her latest photoshoot, suggesting they could be consistent with cosmetic procedures such as an upper blepharoplasty or brow lift. Kimbrell, owner of LA Plastic Surgery, noted greater visibility of Lawrence's upper eyelids, reduced hooding and a higher outer brow when assessing the photographs.

An upper blepharoplasty involves removing excess skin from the upper eyelids, while a brow lift raises the eyebrows. Kimbrell also raised the possibility of a lateral eye lift. The surgeon has not treated Lawrence, and the procedures she mentioned have not been confirmed by the actress. Makeup, lighting, camera angles and image retouching can also affect how facial features appear in photographs.

Lawrence Previously Denied Eye Surgery

The latest speculation follows Lawrence's earlier comments about similar rumours. In a November 2023 interview with Kylie Jenner for Interview magazine, the actress denied undergoing eye surgery and credited makeup with changing the appearance of her features.

'I'm like: "I didn't have eye surgery. I'm doing makeup,"' Lawrence said during the conversation.

She also discussed how comparisons between photographs taken at different ages had fuelled speculation about her appearance. Lawrence explained that her face had changed as she grew older and lost facial fat.

The actress's previous denial is relevant to the renewed discussion, although it does not establish whether she has undergone any procedures since that interview. Lawrence has not publicly confirmed having an upper blepharoplasty or the other facial procedures suggested by Kimbrell.

Lawrence's Public Comments on Cosmetic Procedures

Jennifer Lawrence has discussed undergoing breast surgery following the birth of her second child. She has also spoken openly about her approach to cosmetic treatments and maintaining her appearance while balancing motherhood and her acting career.

In a September 2026 interview, Lawrence revealed that she uses 'baby Botox', a smaller dose of the injectable treatment that softens fine lines while preserving some natural facial movement.

Makeup and Photography Affect Lawrence's Look

Jennifer Lawrence's latest photoshoot has drawn attention to changes in her appearance, particularly around her eyes. However, makeup techniques, lighting, camera angles and photo retouching can influence how facial features look in editorial images, making direct comparisons with earlier photographs difficult.

The images have prompted mixed reactions online, with some viewers questioning whether the actress's appearance has changed following her comments about cosmetic procedures. Others have pointed to makeup and styling as possible explanations for the differences between her latest photographs and earlier public appearances.
