Elijah Wood has entered Kelly Clarkson's $15,000 (£11,300) mechanical bird dispute by sharing an opinion article that blames the singer for the fallout. The Lord of the Rings actor's Thursday, 15 October repost came as celebrities disagreed over Clarkson's confrontation with Brooklyn shop Art of Play.
The Office actor Zach Woods mocked the expensive shopping drama, while Raven-Symoné and Sunny Hostin took opposing positions on who should be held responsible for the backlash. The row began on Saturday, 10 October, when Clarkson accused a shop employee of treating her as though she could not afford a mechanical singing bird.
Art of Play has since reported threats against its employees, raising questions about the consequences of a celebrity complaint reaching millions of followers. Newly circulated security footage shows Clarkson's short visit but has no audio to confirm either side's account of their conversation.

The American Idol winner said she travelled to the Brooklyn Heights curiosity shop intending to purchase several items. She claimed a staff member looked her up and down after she pointed to a $15,000 (£11,300) price tag beside Molly, then offered to find something comparable. Clarkson likened the treatment to Julia Roberts' character being dismissed by luxury shop staff in Pretty Woman.
Art of Play disputed her account, explaining that Molly, its singing and dancing bird automaton, is attached to a wall and used during magic performances. The business said Seattle artist Bliss Kolb was willing to sell Molly's near-identical twin for $15,000 (£11,300) and claimed it had offered to show Clarkson a different model costing around $2,000 (£1,500) that she could take home that day. Clarkson countered by sharing an image of a price tag and accusing the shop of being 'rude' and 'a liar'.

Wood, best known for playing Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings, shared a sharply critical opinion article about the controversy. The piece singled out Clarkson for her handling of the dispute and the public backlash that followed. The actor did not include a detailed public statement explaining whether he agreed with every argument in the piece.
Zach Woods, who also starred in Silicon Valley, responded with a sarcastic social media video. He joked about the relatable experience of being unable to buy a $15,000 (£11,300) mechanical bird, adding: 'Celebrities, they're just like us.' His remarks mocked the unusual shopping complaint but offered no new evidence about what happened inside the store.
Raven-Symoné Backs Kelly Clarkson Against Sunny Hostin
On Thursday's The View, Sunny Hostin said the footage suggested Clarkson had thrown 'a bit of a tantrum' before leaving. Guest co-host Raven-Symoné initially called the singer 'petty', but rejected the suggestion that she was responsible for threats against staff. 'Kelly didn't put you in danger,' the That's So Raven star argued, pointing out that Clarkson had never instructed anyone to attack the business.

Hostin maintained that celebrities with millions of followers must anticipate how an online complaint could spread. Art of Play co-owner Adam Rubin said employees had experienced threats, while Clarkson has insisted even small businesses should treat shoppers respectfully. The footage, released on Tuesday, 13 October, shows Clarkson putting items back on shelves and gesturing near the exit, but cannot establish what was said.
Rubin has since placed a $15 million (£11.3 million) price on Molly, despite the shop previously saying the original bird was not for sale. He has also said Clarkson would be welcome to return to Art of Play. Neither the silent recording nor the celebrity reactions have resolved the opposing accounts of the encounter.
