Elle Fanning channelled her inner Effie Trinket in a pink tulle dress and an extravagant ballerina music box headpiece as she attended the UK fan screening of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping in London on Wednesday, 28 October.
The 28-year-old actress embraced the fictional character's flamboyant fashion sense in a theatrical ensemble from designer Robert Wun's Fall 2026 haute couture collection. With its sculptural bodice, voluminous skirt and unusual headpiece, the look appeared perfectly suited to the extravagant world of Panem.
Fanning completed the outfit with pink pointed-toe heels, a diamond choker and a bracelet, while her blonde hair was swept back to keep the elaborate headpiece in focus. The actress is set to portray a younger version of Effie, the character originally played by Elizabeth Banks in the film franchise.

The pale pink gown featured a strapless corset-style bodice that flowed into a voluminous, tea-length skirt made from layers of tulle. Exaggerated, rippling details around the waist created a sculptural effect, giving the otherwise ballet-inspired design a more avant-garde silhouette.

The dress came from Wun's Fall 2026 couture collection, which reinterpreted childhood-inspired imagery through dramatic, adult designs. According to W Magazine, the elaborate gown incorporated more than 390 feet of layered tulle and nearly 200 feet of silk organza.
However, the outfit's most eye-catching feature was undoubtedly the matching pink headpiece. A miniature ballerina figurine stood in front of a mirror atop the sculptural accessory, evoking the delicate ornament inside a traditional music box.
The whimsical detail gave the ensemble a theatrical quality that went beyond a conventional red-carpet look. It also provided a fitting reference to Effie's penchant for elaborate headwear and the colourful, exaggerated fashions associated with the Capitol.
The Actress Is Embracing Effie Trinket's Extravagant Style
Fanning's appearance comes as promotion begins for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, and her fashion choice echoes the character's distinctive aesthetic. Effie became known for her extravagant outfits, elaborate hairstyles and brightly coloured make-up in the original films, in which Banks brought the Capitol escort to life.
In the upcoming prequel, Fanning will portray a younger Effie Trinket, while Joseph Zada plays a young Haymitch Abernathy as he competes in the 50th Hunger Games. The Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell, feature twice the usual number of tributes. Francis Lawrence returns to direct the latest instalment.
Other cast members also made striking fashion statements at the London screening. Mckenna Grace, who plays District 12 tribute Maysilee Donner, wore an embroidered gown depicting a landscape of mountains, meadows and flowers.

When Does Sunrise on the Reaping Come Out?
The latest film revisits Panem 24 years before the events of the original The Hunger Games story. It follows a young Haymitch as he is selected to compete in the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell, in which twice as many tributes are selected from their districts.
Based on Suzanne Collins' novel of the same name, the film also stars Glenn Close, Ralph Fiennes, Kieran Culkin, Whitney Peak and Jesse Plemons. The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on 20 November 2026.
