Eminem fans were left asking 'WTF?' after discovering the rapper is set to appear on Kid Rock's new Christian album, with some struggling to understand how the unlikely collaboration came about.
Kid Rock unveiled the tracklist for Halfway 2 Jesus on Thursday, revealing that Eminem features on a song called '7 Sins'. The 17-track album is due for release on 17 October and marks a new faith-focused direction for Kid Rock, with other songs including 'Why Don't You Look Into Jesus', 'Water Into Wine', 'Me And Jesus' and 'God Bless the USA'
Fans Were Not Expecting To See Eminem's Name
The announcement quickly prompted disbelief among fans, with many particularly surprised to see Eminem collaborating with Kid Rock given their contrasting public political positions.
'What the fuck man,' one Reddit user simply reacted in the r/popculturechat discussion about the collaboration. Another fan asked: 'Can someone explain this pop star/rapper to Jesus pipeline?'
Others were less concerned about the Christian theme itself and more surprised that Eminem had chosen to work with Kid Rock at all. 'Especially Eminem, who hasn't shied away from politics in his last few albums. Like. wtf dude,' one commenter wrote.
The reaction was strong enough that some fans initially questioned whether the collaboration was even legitimate. One theory circulating among commenters was that Eminem's contribution could be an older, previously unreleased verse that Kid Rock had held on to, rather than a newly recorded collaboration. Another fan suggested that hearing the song would provide clues about when Eminem actually recorded his part.
The Two Detroit Artists Go Way Back
A representative for Eminem's camp confirmed that '7 Sins' is an official track. Kid Rock also reportedly addresses the unlikely pairing in the album's foreword, describing Eminem as an old friend and acknowledging that they do not always see eye to eye.

'We differ politically and on other things, but we've stayed friends through it all,' Kid Rock wrote, according to Complex. He said the pair hoped that could set an example for people who have ended friendships or family relationships because they disagree politically.
The two artists have, after all, known each other for decades. Eminem appeared on Kid Rock's 1998 album Devil Without a Cause, contributing to the track 'Fuck Off'. More than a decade later, Kid Rock returned the favour with an appearance in the music video for Eminem's 2013 single 'Berzerk'.
That history has led some fans to point to their Detroit roots and long-standing friendship as the simplest explanation for the reunion.
'They're both from Detroit. I guess is why?' one Reddit commenter suggested, while another described it as a 'Detroit Brotherhood'.
Kid Rock's New Era Adds Another Twist
Still, that explanation has done little to stop the surprise surrounding the track. Kid Rock's new album is a particularly unexpected setting for the reunion, given its overtly Christian concept and songs centred on Jesus, faith and biblical themes. The singer has said he wanted to make faith-based music incorporating the rock, country and hip-hop sounds he enjoys.
For Eminem fans, the bigger question now is what exactly the rapper will say on '7 Sins'. Until the song is released, it remains unclear how prominently Eminem will feature or what direction his contribution will take. But judging by the reaction to the tracklist alone, the collaboration has already got Eminem fans talking.
