J.Crew and Eckhaus Latta are reworking classic American staples from the retailer's 1990s archives for a more experimental Fall 2026 collection.

Launched on Tuesday, 15 September, the collaboration features 27 limited-edition pieces that combine J.Crew's preppy silhouettes with Eckhaus Latta's unconventional use of colour, texture, and construction.

The collection includes knitwear, outerwear, shirts, denim, trousers, skirts, dresses, and accessories.

From J.Crew's '90s Archives

Eckhaus Latta was founded by Mike Eckhaus and Zoe Latta, who studied sculpture and textile design, respectively, and met at the Rhode Island School of Design.

For this collaboration, Eckhaus and Latta reviewed decades of J.Crew catalogues, focusing on the 1990s for inspiration in colours, proportions, and staple pieces.

'The inspiration for us was really J.Crew. It is an iconic American brand with a rich heritage,' Eckhaus and Latta said.

'We rummaged through a lot of catalogues from the '90s as points of reference. That period was our childhood, so our aesthetics and tastes will always be shaped by it.'

The resulting collection revisits J.Crew staples, including the Barn Jacket, Rollneck, rugby shirt, chinos, pleated skirt, twinset, and duffle coat.

Altered proportions, textures, and construction give these familiar pieces a fresh perspective.

What's in the Collection

Knitwear is the collection's focus, with marled, striped, and brushed textures. The colour palette ranges from browns, blues, and greys to brighter accents like key lime green, purple, and olive.

The knitwear selection features the Rollneck, which builds on Eckhaus Latta's earlier design for J.Crew's Rollneck Remix project. Additional pieces include marled cardigans, sweater-and-skirt sets, striped sweaters, twinsets, and a brushed cashmere vest.

The collection also gives familiar wardrobe pieces a different shape.

For example, the classic chino trouser features a double-layered waistband, and the button-down shirt has an overlapping front for an asymmetrical look. Elsewhere, the jersey turtleneck is reversible, so it can be worn two ways.

Accessories extend this concept to traditional fall items, such as cashmere opera gloves, a brushed cashmere bandana, and a balaclava.

A Larger Collaboration

The collection follows the brands' earlier collaboration on J.Crew's Rollneck Remix project.

Eckhaus Latta was one of the designers asked to create a new version of the retailer's iconic sweater, and the positive response to their design led to the expanded collection.

J.Crew creative director Olympia Gayot stated that the designers aimed to preserve the brand's creative spirit while keeping the pieces within its core collection.

'We wanted to preserve the experimentation, individuality and sense of community that make Eckhaus Latta so distinctive, along with the unpretentious New York energy they bring to clothes designed for how people actually live,' Gayot said.

A House Party for Fall

The campaign, photographed by Luna Conte, shows the collection in a house-party setting rather than a typical fashion setting. This setting brings the clothes into a more natural, everyday environment.

The collection is priced from £56 ($75) to £482 ($650), with pieces available online and at selected J.Crew stores. It coincides with other American brands, such as Banana Republic and Gap, releasing Fall collections and new takes on their established styles.
