John Stamos, 63, has reunited with Pantene 32 years after appearing in its 1994 haircare advert, following his own public appeal for the brand to bring him back. In the first instalment of the new campaign, released on Thursday, 22 October 2026, the Full House actor runs a gold comb through his hair and declares, 'I think I still got it.'
The reunion began on 24 April 2026, when Stamos posted his original Pantene commercial on Instagram and invited the brand to contact him about working together again. Pantene took him up on the suggestion, turning his request into a comedy video series in which he campaigns to become its self-appointed 'Ultimate Ambassador.' Stamos marked the comeback in a new post captioned, 'I'm back! #PantenePartner.'
Why Did John Stamos Return to Pantene After 32 Years?
Stamos first appeared in a Pantene commercial in 1994, when he was still playing Jesse Katsopolis on the US sitcom Full House. His character's painstaking attention to his hair was a recurring part of the show, which aired from 1987 to 1995. The pompadour and Jesse's insistence that nobody touch his hair helped make the hairstyle part of his on-screen identity.
His invitation in April offered the starting point for the reunion, and the haircare company responded with a series built around his attempts to win back the role. In the campaign, Stamos presents himself as someone who never really stopped representing the brand. Pantene, which is owned by Procter & Gamble, has also featured him and his product selections on its US website.
Inside the New Pantene Commercial
The first episode opens with Stamos arriving at Pantene's offices to explain that he once starred in an advert for the company. He produces an old television set and plays the 1994 commercial, reciting the script alongside his younger on-screen self. The actor also offers a demonstration of his trademark hairstyle while trying to persuade staff that he deserves another turn as an ambassador. Rather than recreating the original advert shot for shot, he plays a self-promoting version of himself, with his return serving as the joke.
When a woman presented as the company's boss enters, Stamos pitches himself for a grander title. She gives him a noncommittal response and heads into a meeting, leaving him trying to secure a follow-up.
Created by Grey New York and directed by Dan Opsal, the campaign uses a mockumentary-style approach to Stamos's return. Production company Hungry Man worked on the first instalment, which is presented as the opening episode of a longer series. The clips form part of Pantene's 'Actually Pantene' marketing push, which connects his familiar television-era hairstyle to its present-day products. Further videos are due in the coming weeks, extending the return beyond a single throwback advert.
What Haircare Products Does John Stamos Use?
Stamos says he uses Pantene Daily Moisture Renewal Shampoo and Conditioner when he wants his hair to look shiny and bouncy. He also names the brand's Miracle Rescue Deep Conditioning Treatment as a product he uses when his hair needs extra care.
Speaking about the partnership in an interview released alongside the campaign, he joked, 'Pantene is the longest relationship that I've ever had in my life.' He also acknowledged that strangers often approach him about his hair and quipped, 'I have other parts to me too.' At 63, the star of Full House and Fuller House has returned to the same brand after asking for the job himself, with his 1994 commercial now part of the new one.
