KATSEYE at D23

If Megara found a way to say she is in love with Hercules without actually 'saying' she is in love with Hercules, then KATSEYE found a very Disney-approved way to dress like the legendary muses without 'saying' they dressed like the legendary muses.

The global girl group made a surprise appearance at the Disney Legends Awards Ceremony at D23 on Sunday, 16 August, transforming into the beloved Hercules muses for a performance of 'I Won't Say (I'm in Love)'.

As if covering one of Disney's most popular love songs was not enough, they arrived dressed for Mount Olympus. Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, and Yoonchae Jeung took the stage in coordinated white-and-gold ensembles inspired by the gospel-singing muses from the 1997 animated classic.

The performance honoured Susan Egan, the original voice of Megara, as she was officially inducted as a Disney Legend.

KATSEYE Goes Full Greek Goddess

If not executed with care and a great sense of Greek mythological style, the fashion assignment could have easily fallen down the rabbit hole of Halloween costumery. Instead, KATSEYE's styling team gave ancient Greece a 2026 dress code.

The four members wore variations of asymmetric white crop tops and flowing, high-slit skirts. With cut-outs, draping, and gold hardware, the ensembles exuded enough Grecian influence to make the reference obvious without anyone needing to carry a lyre.

Even their shoes walked in perfect sync with the theme sans the cartoonish exaggeration. The members completed their looks with metallic gold heels, including gladiator-inspired styles featuring delicate straps and sparkling embellishments.

Consider it goddess core if Coachella were ever held at Mount Olympus, headlined by Athena and Aphrodite.

Moreover, their outfits also offered a clever nod to the original muses, whose white dresses and gold accessories are practically as recognisable as Megara's purple gown. Rather than recreating the animated costumes down to the stitch, however, KATSEYE translated the aesthetic into something that belonged on a contemporary pop stage.

Somewhere, the muses are presumably harmonising their approval.

A Legendary Serenade for the Original Megara

The performance was ultimately dedicated to the woman who first made refusing to admit romantic feelings sound incredibly catchy.

Susan Egan voiced Megara in Hercules and originated Belle in Broadway's Beauty and the Beast, giving her a particularly impressive claim to numerous Disney-princess crowns.

Before KATSEYE appeared, actresses who have played Belle on stage honoured Egan with a performance of the Beauty and the Beast title song. Then they introduced KATSEYE for their rendition of Meg's signature number.

The 'Debut' singers later welcomed Egan herself onto the stage to receive her Disney Legends honour.

Reflecting on her Disney career, Egan joked that she had gone from Belle's 'wide-eyed wonder' to Meg's 'side-eyed sarcasm'.

Frankly, few résumés contain that much range.

The Muses Have Sung

KATSEYE's D23 appearance also arrived during a changing chapter for the group. Sophia Laforteza is currently on hiatus, while Manon Bannerman has also stepped away from group activities, leaving Daniela, Lara, Megan, and Yoonchae to take on this Disney milestone as a quartet.

Still, four voices happened to make plenty of sense for a song originally powered by Megara and her famously persistent chorus of muses. Disney spent the afternoon celebrating legends who have written its history, and KATSEYE helped harmonise that history with a newer generation of pop.

Twenty-nine years after Meg insisted she absolutely, categorically was not in love, her anthem is still the most timeless denial love song ever. As for KATSEYE possessing the ability to sing about zucchinis while rocking bralettes to performing a Disney classic dressed in elegant goddess attire? Talk about going the distance.
