Kourtney Kardashian has revealed that she did not speak to her younger sister Kim Kardashian for four weeks after discovering that Kim had secretly married music producer Damon Thomas at 19. Recalling the fallout on The Kardashians, Kourtney said she learnt about the 2000 Las Vegas wedding through friends before telling their mother, Kris Jenner, prompting Kim to accuse her of 'ruining my life!'
The revelation emerged during a conversation with Kourtney's stepdaughter, Alabama Barker, whose disagreement with her brother, Landon Barker, prompted the unexpected confession.
Kim's Secret Wedding Revealed
Kim married Thomas in Las Vegas in 2000 without telling her family. Kourtney recalled discovering the marriage through friends rather than hearing the news directly from her younger sister. 'Kim got married when she was 19 and she didn't tell me — my friends told me,' Kourtney said.
Their mother also learnt about the wedding unexpectedly. Kourtney recalled Kris telling her that a nail technician had congratulated her on her daughter's marriage. 'It's so funny, the nail girl was saying, "Congratulations, your daughter got married,"' Kourtney recalled her mother saying.
Kourtney said she subsequently told Kris what she had learnt, recalling Kim's furious response: 'You're ruining my life!' According to Kourtney, the sisters then went four weeks without speaking. The recollection offers a glimpse into the family tensions surrounding Kim's first marriage, years before their lives became the focus of reality television.

Family Tensions Recalled
Kourtney shared the memory while listening to Alabama explain her disagreement with Landon. 'We just had a disagreement and I found something out, and I told my father, and [Landon] didn't like that,' Alabama said. She explained that speaking up was for her brother's 'own good,' despite his objections. Her account prompted Kourtney to compare the situation with her own experience of disclosing Kim's secret.
'Four weeks? I told you, I didn't talk to Kim once for four weeks in high school, no, college,' Kourtney said. The conversation brought the sisters' experiences into parallel, although their disagreements arose in different circumstances.
Kim's First Marriage to Damon Thomas
Kim and Thomas married in 2000 and divorced in 2004. Thomas, a music producer, was 29 when he married Kim. Kim has previously shared details about their wedding, including her unconventional outfit. Recalling the occasion on The Kardashians in 2025, she said: 'My first wedding, I wore leather capris with a leather halter top with no back and big Prada wedges. It was so cute.'
She has also spoken about the financial difficulties she faced during the divorce, recalling how her younger sister Khloé Kardashian helped her secure an apartment. 'When I was getting my first divorce, I moved out and I had no money,' Kim said.
Khloé gave her the money from a childhood piggy bank containing $6,000 (£4,400). Kim recalled counting the savings together overnight, explaining that the money covered a down payment on her apartment and her first and last months' rent.
