Noah Wyle has been named the Sexiest Man Alive for 2026, but his win has divided opinion. Social media users have questioned the choice, with some insisting that the The Pitt star is not even the most attractive man in his own medical drama.

The announcement has triggered comparisons with previous winners, including Jonathan Bailey, who received the title in 2025. Others have suggested that Wyle's co-star Shawn Hatosy or actors such as Henry Cavill and Jensen Ackles would have been stronger choices.

Noah Wyle Reacts to His Win

Wyle, 55, is best known for playing Dr Michael 'Robby' Robinavitch in The Pitt and Dr John Carter in the long-running medical drama ER. His latest recognition adds another milestone to a career spanning decades, although the title has generated a debate that goes well beyond his acting achievements.

According to People, Wyle initially thought the news was a prank when the magazine contacted him about the honour. 'Just not in a million years did I think that this would be an honor bestowed on me', the actor said.

He also credited his wife, Sara, with helping him appreciate the recognition. 'She thinks I'm a good guy and that the kind of person that I am and the kind of father I am, the kind of husband I am, is worth promoting', Wyle explained.

The actor's selection follows a string of Hollywood stars who have received the title in previous years. However, while Wyle may have won over the magazine's editors, the announcement has left some fans wondering how the decision was made.

Critics Slam the Magazine Choice

Some of the harshest reactions came from online users, with one saying: 'Wtf He's not even the sexiest man on the Pitt'. Another complained: 'They just give this title to anyone now i see..'

Others compared the announcement with Bailey's previous win, suggesting the magazine had taken a questionable turn with its latest selection. 'How did we go from [Bailey] to [Wyle].... the unreal downfall', one commenter wrote.

Another social media user asked whether the magazine's choice reflected what audiences actually wanted, claiming there was 'absolutely no way this was the cultural consensus for 2026'. The criticism even extended to the magazine's promotional wording, with one commenter responding to the phrase 'no second opinion needed' by writing: 'Oh i think there definitely should be a second opinion'.

Co-Star Shawn Hatosy Gets Fan Support

Wyle's The Pitt co-star Shawn Hatosy was among the alternative choices mentioned by the internet users who were unimpressed with the announcement. Some fans wanted Hatosy to receive the title instead, putting the spotlight on another member of the hit medical drama's cast. Hatosy plays Dr Jack Abbot in The Pitt, where his character works alongside Wyle's Dr 'Robby' Robinavitch.

Other names suggested by social media users included Jensen Ackles, Theo James, Zayn Malik and Aaron Pierre. Henry Cavill also featured in the debate, with one critic saying: 'The fact that they never selected Henry Cavill but they chose Blake Shelton and this random guy nobody considers sexy says it all'.

Despite the online criticism, Wyle has earned significant recognition for his work on The Pitt. He won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in both 2025 and 2026 for his portrayal of Dr 'Robby' Robinavitch.
