Sadie Sink has done the one thing Marvel fans never expected. Instead of ending months of wild speculation about her mysterious role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, she leaned into the chaos with a playful video that 'confirmed' almost nothing, leaving millions laughing while the guessing game continued.
Her tongue in cheek reveal answered the headline in the funniest way possible. Sink gave fans three 'confirmed' facts that she is not Spider-Man, she is not Aunt May, and she is definitely in the film, before refusing to say another word about the character everyone is desperate to identify.
Three Answers, No Clues
Marvel has kept Sink's character under wraps since announcing her casting, and every trailer has only encouraged more theories. Fans have suggested she could be Jean Grey, Gwen Stacy, Firestar or even Spider-Girl as excitement continues to build before the film arrives in cinemas on 31 July.
Rather than answer the question everyone is asking, Sink uploaded a humorous video on the film's official gram account. She joked that after seeing countless theories online, she wanted to reward fans with three 'exclusive, confirmed answers' that were technically true but revealed absolutely nothing important.
Her Joke Only Made the Mystery Bigger
Sink first declared that she was 'not Spider-Man' before adding that she was also 'not Aunt May', the beloved character played by Marisa Tomei who died during Spider-Man: No Way Home. She then ended the clip by confirming that she was, in fact, appearing in the film.
Her final message teased audiences even further. Sink smiled before saying that anyone wanting to know who she really plays would simply have to buy a cinema ticket and find out for themselves when the film is released.
Marvel Secrecy Is on Another Level
During an interview with Collider, Sink admitted she was already familiar with working under strict secrecy after filming the final season of Stranger Things. Even so, she suggested that joining Marvel introduced a completely different level of confidentiality.
She explained that she understood how enormous the Spider-Man franchise was before signing on. At the same time, she admitted the blockbuster world felt much bigger than anything she had experienced before, especially because of the passionate fan community surrounding the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Tom Holland Helped Her Feel at Home
Although stepping into such a huge franchise could have been intimidating, Sink said Tom Holland made the transition much easier. She described the Spider-Man star as welcoming from the very beginning and praised the rest of the cast and crew for creating a relaxed atmosphere on set.
According to Sink, Holland's easy going personality helped her settle into a production carrying enormous expectations. His friendly attitude allowed her to enjoy the experience despite knowing millions of fans were analysing every rumour surrounding her secret role.
Peter Parker's New Chapter
While Sink's mystery continues to dominate conversations, Spider-Man: Brand New Day also promises a different chapter for Peter Parker. Following the heartbreaking ending of No Way Home, Peter is completely alone after the world forgot his identity, including MJ and his closest friend Ned.
The new film also introduces Jon Bernthal's Punisher into Peter's life. Holland recently revealed their relationship unexpectedly evolved during filming into a 'big brother, little brother' bond, giving Peter an unlikely friend at a time when he has nobody else to rely on.
The Countdown Continues
Until Marvel finally reveals Sink's character, every interview, trailer and social media post is likely to create another wave of theories. Her latest joke proved that even the smallest comment can send the internet racing to solve a mystery that Marvel has no intention of giving away early.
For now, Sink has achieved exactly what Marvel wanted. She entertained fans, kept the secret safe and somehow managed to make the biggest question surrounding Spider-Man: Brand New Day even more irresistible just days before opening night.
