The singer and music producer marked one year of marriage on Sunday, 27 September, by digging into a preserved piece of their wedding cake. Blanco shared the evidence on Instagram Stories, showing the dessert resting on a pink plate bearing the words 'LOVE IS LOVE'.
Despite its rather impressive shelf life, the cake apparently passed the taste test. 'year old cake never tasted so good,' Blanco wrote over the photo. Love is sweet, but successfully preserving dessert for 365 days is even sweeter — and hopefully not furry.

Eating a piece of frozen wedding cake on the first anniversary is a longstanding tradition associated with good luck and prosperity. For Blanco, however, the custom initially came with a few questions.
During a previous appearance as a guest co-host on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, the music producer revealed that Gomez's grandmother had insisted they save some cake from their September 2025 wedding. As it turned out, love is love, and cake is cake, whether it's a year old or not.
'Her grandma, her nana, told me this,' Blanco recalled, explaining that he initially couldn't understand why anyone would want to keep a wedding cake for an entire year. His confusion became much funnier when he revealed that the cake had already survived an unexpected encounter with one of the couple's famous wedding guests. Apparently, Martin Short had helped himself to a tiny portion before anyone could explain the preservation plan.
'The full cake isn't there because Marty ate part of the cake before we were supposed to do it,' Blanco said of Gomez's Only Murders in the Building co-star.
The actor had reportedly mistaken the small wedding cake for a decorative prop and eaten some with his hand, leaving the couple's team to put it back together. Benny Blanco Had Some Concerns About the Cake's Survival
Blanco explained that he and Gomez had opted against a towering wedding cake, choosing a smaller dessert tucked away at their reception instead.
Following Short's unscheduled taste test, the couple still had six slices left to preserve. That was more than enough for their first anniversary, although Blanco wasn't particularly enthusiastic about the prospect of repeating the tradition indefinitely.
'I hope you only have to eat it for the first year,' he joked during the television appearance, before admitting, 'I didn't even wrap it correctly. It's probably furry now.'
Fortunately, the anniversary update suggested the cake had survived its year in storage well enough for the couple to enjoy a celebratory slice. Blanco also shared a wedding photograph alongside the message, '1 year down... forever to go'.

Gomez joined the celebrations with an Instagram Story of her own, posting a photograph of herself and Blanco hugging at their wedding reception in their custom Ralph Lauren looks.
'Happy anniversary my love,' she wrote. 'I love you to the moon and back.'
The couple married in Santa Barbara, California, in 2025, surrounded by family and friends. Their ceremony featured personal vows, while the reception reportedly kept guests celebrating well into the night.
Ahead of their anniversary, Gomez told PEOPLE that she and Blanco were 'still in the honeymoon stage', praising her husband's willingness to listen and support her through different moods and days.
'I just need him, and I love him, so it's pretty great,' she said. A year later, the couple have revisited their wedding day through photographs, affectionate messages, and one particularly immortal slice of cake.
