Tallulah Willis speaks out against online body-shaming @buuski/Instagram

Tallulah Willis has spoken out about the cruel comments she continues to receive about her appearance, revealing that reading such remarks reminds her of the struggles that once led her to 'almost starve to death' after years of disordered eating. The 32-year-old daughter of actors Bruce Willis and Demi Moore shared examples of the online abuse in an Instagram Reel on Monday, 2 November.

The post featured a screen recording of comments made about her physical appearance, including remarks describing her as unattractive and questioning whether she had a medical condition. In the caption, Tallulah explained how encountering such comments affects her, particularly given her history of disordered eating and her openness about her recovery.

'I don't often read these things, but when I do I remember why I almost starved to death after a lifetime of disordered eating,' she wrote.

Tallulah Shares Body-Shaming Comments

The actress also addressed the language used by social media users to describe her appearance, saying people were often surprised when she discussed the extent of the abuse she had experienced. 'People seem shocked -genuinely- when I share my experience being called "medically disfigured" or "something to fear",' she wrote.

Among the comments shown in the recording were remarks suggesting that Tallulah was 'not easy on the eyes', alongside another message questioning whether she had 'some sort of medical issue'. Other remarks also used insulting language to describe her facial features.

Tallulah used the post to highlight the online abuse she continues to encounter despite having spoken publicly about her personal struggles. She also emphasised the importance of showing kindness to others, particularly those who have been open about difficult experiences.

'I take pride in that fact that I choose kindness every day, but I just hope to share with you all the realities that someone who has been unstoppably vulnerable in sharing their ups and downs still gets treated like this on certain corners of the internet,' she added. Tallulah ended her message by rejecting the negative descriptions directed at her, writing that she was 'far from what nightmares are made of'.

Tallulah's Eating Disorder Struggles

The latest comments come after Tallulah has spoken on several occasions about her experiences with disordered eating and body image. In 2023, she discussed her struggles in a personal essay for Vogue, revealing that she had been diagnosed with anorexia nervosa.

She also appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show that year, where she discussed the difficulties she experienced while dealing with an eating disorder. During the interview, Tallulah explained that her condition became particularly visible during a period when social media users were also commenting on her appearance.

She has previously described how her experiences with body image affected her relationship with herself, while also sharing aspects of her recovery with followers. Her latest Instagram post revisits those experiences, particularly the emotional weight of receiving unsolicited remarks about her physical features.

Tallulah on Body Image and Halloween

The Instagram Reel followed another post shared on 1 November, in which Tallulah discussed how her relationship with body image has influenced her approach to dressing up for Halloween. She reflected on how her feelings about costumes changed as her body size changed.

'I find that I'm not activated by the idea of costumes, but I have an awareness that I enjoyed dressing up when I was in a different body size,' she explained.

She added that she did not believe either version of herself was wrong, but stressed the importance of acknowledging the feelings that can come with changes in body image. 'I don't think that means either is wrong or that I'm wrong now, but I also think it's important not to ignore the feelings,' she continued. Tallulah also said she wanted to share the experience with others who might have similar feelings about their bodies.

The actress, who is the youngest of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore's three daughters, has continued to use her social media platforms to discuss her personal experiences, including her recovery and the challenges of navigating public scrutiny.
