Marvel Studios has spent years trying to convince Adam Driver to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, yet every attempt has reached exactly the same ending. According to Marvel boss Kevin Feige, each Zoom meeting wraps up with Driver politely declining another opportunity, turning the studio's recruitment efforts into what Feige jokingly called a long running tradition.

Kevin Feige shared the story during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with host Josh Horowitz. Asked about Marvel's long standing interest in Adam Driver, Feige admitted the conversations have happened more times than most fans probably realised.
'Many, many, many, many conversations', Feige said before explaining that it had become a familiar routine. He added that it was 'a tradition' to meet Driver over Zoom, only for the actor to pass on the role every single time, while remaining friendly and honest about his decision.
Adam Driver Keeps Choosing Carefully
Driver's repeated refusals may sound surprising, but they fit the way he has approached his career for years. After playing Kylo Ren, also known as Ben Solo, across the latest Star Wars trilogy, the Oscar nominated actor has never rushed into signing up for another major franchise.
His careful approach has also fuelled endless speculation online. Recent rumours linked him to Magneto and Mister Sinister in Marvel's upcoming X-Men reboot, but Feige dismissed any suggestion that those roles have already been cast and declined to reveal which Marvel characters Driver had previously turned down.
Star Wars Still Holds a Special Place
While Driver has consistently passed on Marvel, he has openly admitted that he was eager to return to the galaxy far, far away. Last year, he revealed that he had worked alongside director Steven Soderbergh on a proposal for The Hunt for Ben Solo, a sequel centred on his popular character.
According to Driver, Lucasfilm supported the idea and understood the creative direction behind it. However, Disney executives Bob Iger and Alan Bergman ultimately rejected the project because they did not believe Ben Solo could realistically return after the events of Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker.

One Role Changed His Career
Interestingly, Driver has admitted that saying 'yes' has not always come easily. Speaking previously to ScreenRant, he revealed he almost turned down HBO's 'Girls' because television simply was not something that interested him at the time.
His agent persuaded him to audition, leading to a meeting with creator Lena Dunham that completely changed his career. Looking back, Driver acknowledged that accepting the role opened doors he never expected, proving that even the actor himself has occasionally needed convincing before taking on a life changing project.
Marvel Leaves the Door Wide Open
Despite years of polite refusals, Feige gave no indication that Marvel has given up hope. In fact, his comments suggested the studio would gladly continue talking to Driver whenever the opportunity arises.
The Marvel chief also addressed interest from other stars, including Ryan Gosling's desire to play Ghost Rider and Cynthia Erivo's enthusiasm for portraying Storm. Feige teased that 'you never know what the future may bring', hinting that Marvel's casting plans remain flexible.
