Alexander Skarsgård and Zoey Deutch showed up to the same Paris show in matching leopard print, and only one followed the lookbook. Both stars wore Valentino leopard coats from the house's Resort 2027 collection to Alessandro Michele's Spring/Summer 2027 show on 4 October, held in the reading room of the Bibliothèque Sainte-Geneviève.

Skarsgård wore his as shown in the lookbook, while Deutch swapped half of the styling for her own. So whose version says more about the collection?

The Valentino Resort 2027 Collection

Michele built the collection around the 'Villain Teen', a cast of mischievous house guests drifting through a Lombard villa in preppy blazers, collegiate stripes, pleated tartan skirts, Aran knits and front-slit denim maxis.

Men's and women's looks share the same villa, and the mood mixes high and low, with sequins next to hoodies and feathered gowns and fringed capes for evening. Michele framed the whole collection as a 'Valentino 2.0' wardrobe, one that keeps the house's aristocratic codes without being bound by them.

The leopard coat is the collection's loudest piece of outerwear. It comes in two cuts of the same golden-and-black print.

The menswear version is a button-through style with a classic collar, shown open over a pale pink V-neck knit and purple track trousers. The womenswear version runs floor-length with a stand collar and huge dark brown faux-fur cuffs, worn with a black cap, pearl drop earrings and black boots.

How Alexander Skarsgård Styled the Valentino Leopard Coat

Skarsgård kept the menswear look close to the original. The button-through coat hung open over the pale pink V-neck and the purple track trousers, finished with black leather shoes, exactly as the lookbook shows. He dropped the cap and hooked his sunglasses into his neckline instead of wearing them.

That small change gave the outfit an easy 1970s playboy swagger. It is a relaxed, slightly eccentric way to wear a coat this bold, and it keeps the focus on the print and the colour clash.

How Zoey Deutch Styled the Valentino Leopard Coat

Deutch took the womenswear coat and made it her own. She kept the floor-length shape and the faux-fur cuffs but dropped the cap, pearl earrings, and black boots. In their place came sleek sunglasses, yellow satin Valentino pumps, and a tan shoulder bag.

The yellow shoes were the clever move, pulling a colour out of the print and giving a very long coat some energy. She sat among Joe Alwyn, Samara Weaving, Clairo and Cai Xukun, and the leopard held its own in a row full of colour.

The Verdict: Who Wore the Valentino Leopard Coat Better?

Three things decide it: loyalty to the lookbook, personal spin, and impact in the photographs.

Skarsgård wins on loyalty. Wearing the look almost exactly as designed took confidence, and it showed the menswear coat works on a real person as well as a model.

Deutch takes personal spin. By changing the shoes, bag, and accessories, she turned a lookbook image into something that felt like hers, with the cuffs giving the whole outfit a couture edge.

Impact is close, but the yellow pumps and fur cuffs give her the stronger photograph. Skarsgård may have won more chatter, yet Deutch wins the showdown for reinterpreting the coat rather than repeating it.
