A Texas family found themselves deeply unsettled when their doorbell camera captured a mysterious figure outside their home, wearing a mask resembling former US President Joe Biden and eating a banana. The unusual encounter was recorded in Watauga on 18 October.
FOX 4 reports the incident occurred around 8:05 pm on a Sunday. The unidentified visitor wore a Biden-style mask and a T-shirt with 'FREEDOM', similar to the shirt Charlie Kirk wore when he was fatally shot in September 2025.
The footage shows the masked individual touching the doorbell camera twice before attempting to eat a banana through the mask. After this odd display, the person simply walks away, leaving the family with only a puzzling video and unanswered questions.
The family provided the Nest doorbell footage to WFAA, which is a television station licensed to Dallas, and described the incident as 'scary'. While the footage quickly caught the internet's attention, police found no signs of a crime. Neither the footage nor available reports identified the visitor or explained their choice of attire, leaving the motive behind this unusual visit a complete mystery.
Officers Find No Offence
The Watauga Police Department reviewed the footage and dispatched officers to the surrounding neighbourhood. However, they could not locate the individual or find evidence of a criminal offence.
Police also confirmed they received no additional official reports about the individual, though they were aware of similar sightings on social media. The department could not determine whether these reports involved the same person seen on camera.
In a statement quoted by FOX 4, the department addressed the visitor's unusual appearance and behaviour: 'Although the individual's choice of attire and snack may have raised a few eyebrows, neither appears to have violated the law at this time.'
The statement added: 'And while we can't explain the costume, the banana, or the apparent political identity crisis, we can confirm that being bizarre is not, in itself, a criminal offence.'
The Shirt's Political Connection
The 'FREEDOM' T-shirt is associated with Charlie Kirk, an American conservative political commentator and co-founder of Turning Point USA. He was fatally shot at a university event in Utah on 10 September 2025 at age 31. At a White House ceremony the following month, his widow, Erika Kirk, stated that he wore a similar 'FREEDOM' shirt in his final moments.
Turning Point USA offers a Freedom T-shirt in its merchandise through The Charlie Kirk Show Store. However, there is no evidence of any official affiliation between the visitor and the organisation.
Police acknowledged social media reports of similar sightings and encouraged residents to report any suspicious activity. It is unclear whether the doorstep visit was a prank, an act of intimidation, or politically motivated.
Jessica Monica, who shared the incident on Facebook, defended her children for calling the police and wrote, 'This happened to my kids last night. I'm so confused as to why the people in the comment section feel my kids overreacted by calling the police if they were scared. Telling us to grow up because it's Halloween is crazy. What if things would have turned out differently?'

The footage also sparked discussion on X, where users debated the visitor's behaviour and possible responses from the homeowners. One commenter wrote, "Texas is probably the worst place in America to be doing this unless you're asking to get pumped full of lead lol."
