Kylie Kelce reveals why she and Jason agreed he would not leave an NFL game for childbirth @kykelce/Instagram

Kylie Kelce has said she would not have asked husband Jason Kelce to leave an NFL game even if she went into labour, recalling a decision made before their first daughter's birth. The Not Gonna Lie host revisited the agreement on Wednesday, 14 October, while speaking to Olympic skier Mikaela Shiffrin on What's the Point with Mikaela Shiffrin.

The 34-year-old recalled how Philadelphia Eagles fans questioned what would happen if she went into labour during a game while expecting Wyatt in October 2019. Some were disturbed that she didn't ask Jason to leave the field, even for the birth of their first child.

Her stance resurfaced in February 2023, when she attended Super Bowl LVII at 38 weeks pregnant. She travelled with two obstetricians and an emergency plan as Jason prepared to face his younger brother Travis Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs.

Why Wouldn't Kylie Ask Jason to Leave an NFL Game?

Speaking to Shiffrin, Kylie Kelce explained that the arrangement predated their Super Bowl preparations. 'He's not leaving a game to watch me give birth,' she said of the understanding from her first pregnancy. She added that 'People were really disturbed about that' when they heard she would not summon him from the game.

Wyatt arrived on 2 October 2019, during the NFL regular season but not while Jason was playing. Kylie previously told Jason and Travis on their New Heights podcast that she 'would have someone tell him after the game was over' if necessary. As it happened, no such interruption was needed, and their agreement remained hypothetical.

A Super Bowl Birth Plan With Two Obstetricians

More than three years later, the question returned on one of the biggest days of Jason's career. Kylie was 38 weeks pregnant with Bennett for Super Bowl LVII on 12 February 2023, when the Eagles faced Travis's Chiefs in Glendale, Arizona. The family had to consider travel as well as the possibility of labour during the game.

She said she brought two of her obstetricians primarily because of concerns about the flight and wanted them available for support if she went to hospital. The doctors would not have delivered the baby in Arizona, she explained, because they were outside their home state. Jason, meanwhile, would not have been expected to abandon the Super Bowl.

Bennett was born on 23 February 2023, 11 days after Kansas City defeated Philadelphia 38-35. The game was a family milestone, putting Jason and Travis on opposing sides of the NFL championship. Kylie described it as a family occasion while explaining that plans were in place for her daughter's arrival.

How Kylie and Jason Kelce Manage Life With Four Daughters

Jason retired from the NFL in March 2024 after 13 seasons with the Eagles, including their Super Bowl LII victory. He now works as an ESPN NFL analyst and co-hosts New Heights with Travis, while Kylie hosts her podcast and coaches field hockey. Their daughters are Wyatt, Elliotte, Bennett and Finnley, born in March 2025.

On Wednesday, Kylie also discussed their childcare arrangements on IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson. 'We couldn't do it without my parents,' she said, noting that they live about 15 minutes away. She also said the family has a nanny during regular working hours and relies on both sets of grandparents.

Kylie acknowledged that she and Jason do not handle parenting without help, even as they remain involved in their daughters' lives. Their support network has been part of raising a family alongside professional football and, more recently, their media careers. None of the four girls was born during an NFL game, so Jason never had to choose whether to leave the field.
