Lauryn 'Pumpkin' Efird has claimed her daughter was denied a place at a private school because of her explicit OnlyFans content. The Here Comes Honey Boo Boo alum said the decision came after she had already gone through the admissions process, paid fees and brought her 8-year-old daughter Ella to the school for a meeting.
Efird said she does not object to the school having different values from her own. Instead, she is angry about how she says the situation was handled, particularly because Ella was reportedly unaware that her admission was being rejected.
Lauryn 'Pumpkin' Efird Says School Rejected Her Daughter
According to Efird, she had been looking to move Ella to a private school because she wanted her daughter to have a more challenging curriculum. She said she had communicated with admissions staff, paid the required fees and visited the school before receiving an email asking her to attend a parent meeting.
She claims the meeting took an unexpected turn when a member of staff told her that her social media presence 'does not align' with the school.
Efird said she had no problem with the institution deciding that her lifestyle was not suitable for its community. What upset her was that the issue was apparently raised only after she had progressed through the admissions process.
She also said she was prepared to spend almost $10,000 (over £7,000) on the school year.
For Efird, the most difficult part was reportedly seeing her daughter sitting in the school office without knowing why she was being rejected.
The reality star said she believed Ella 'deserved better' and argued that the situation could have been handled with 'more transparency and consideration'.
Efird also revealed that Ella will now be homeschooled, with the family finding a private tutor who can meet the educational standards she believes her daughter needs. 'Now she will enjoy the comfort of not being put into a judgmental system,' she added.
How Much Is She Making From OnlyFans?
The dispute comes just days after Efird revealed just how successful her OnlyFans career has become.
She launched her account in March and recently told TMZ that she earned more than $10,000 (over £7,000) on her first day. She later reached a new high of between $14,000 and $15,000 (£10,000 – £11,000) in a single day. Her monthly subscription is priced at $9.99, around £7.50.
Efird has also expanded into more explicit material, describing some of her newer work as 'hardcore'. Reports have said individual videos have been priced at up to $150, around £112.
She has defended the career move by pointing to the financial stability it has provided for her four children. Efird has also said the income allows her to spend more time with them instead of working a traditional 9-to-5 job.
From Reality TV to OnlyFans: Who Is Lauryn 'Pumpkin' Efird?
Lauryn 'Pumpkin' Efird is a reality TV personality and the daughter of June 'Mama June' Shannon. Born in January 2000, she rose to fame alongside her family on TLC's Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, which centred on her younger sister Alana 'Honey Boo Boo' Thompson and their family.
Mama June was already a familiar face on reality TV through Toddlers & Tiaras and Here Comes Honey Boo Boo before going on to star in her own WEtv series, Mama June: From Not to Hot, which was later rebranded several times, including as Mama June: Family Crisis. Efird has remained part of the family's reality TV story and took on a bigger role in Thompson's life, eventually becoming her legal guardian.
Now, Efird is making headlines for a very different reason. After launching her OnlyFans account in March, she has spoken openly about the substantial income she earns from the platform and how it has changed her family's finances.
