Nicole Kidman made her first appearance at the LACMA Art+Film Gala on 7 November 2026, choosing a voluminous Chanel dress with a ballet-inspired tulle skirt for the event's 15th edition. The actor attended the annual fundraiser at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, wearing a taupe-and-cream design from Matthieu Blazy's Spring/Summer 2027 collection.

Its fitted corset-style bodice featured long sleeves, visible structure, and an unfinished-looking neckline. Below the waist, layers of semi-sheer tulle formed an asymmetrical tutu skirt, with shorter sections at the front and longer layers around the sides.

Chanel Runway Look Comes To LACMA

The dress first appeared as part of Chanel's Spring/Summer 2027 presentation. Its structured upper half contrasted with the softer, uneven layers of tulle that gave the skirt its volume. Kidman wore her blonde hair in a loose high ponytail and finished the outfit with open-toe heels. The styling kept the focus on the shape of the dress, particularly its bodice and layered skirt.

The Chanel gown differed from the fitted evening dresses and dark sequinned looks worn by several other attendees, using a ballet silhouette rather than a traditional full-length column skirt.

The dress was not a conventional ballet costume. Its fitted bodice had visible corset-like construction and a raw-edged neckline, while the skirt rose and fell in uneven layers. The different lengths exposed more of Kidman's legs than a traditional full-length evening gown.

The taupe upper section and cream tulle also created a two-part colour scheme. Rather than covering the skirt with embellishment, the design relied on the density and arrangement of the fabric. The look was among the first public appearances of a tutu dress from Chanel's Spring/Summer 2027 collection.

She posed for photographs outside the museum near Chris Burden's Urban Light, a familiar setting for arrivals at the Los Angeles event.

First Appearance At The Long-Running Gala

LACMA established the Art+Film Gala in 2011. The museum created the benefit to support its film programming and to recognise artists and filmmakers whose work contributes to visual culture. The museum uses the occasion to support programmes connecting cinema with other forms of visual art.

Kidman's 2026 attendance was her debut at the event.

The 2026 honourees were painter Vija Celmins and film director Denis Villeneuve, whose newest film Dune Part Three will premiere in theaters on December 2026. The gala's honourees represented two different disciplines. Celmins is recognised for painstaking representations of natural subjects, while Villeneuve has directed major films including Arrival and Blade Runner 2049.

Leonardo DiCaprio and LACMA trustee Eva Chow served as co-chairs for the 15th year. Rosé of BLACKPINK was among the performers scheduled for the evening, while the guest list included actors, models, musicians, and other figures from the entertainment industry.

Kidman Joins A Fashion-Focused Red Carpet

Gucci supported the gala, and several guests wore designs from the Italian fashion house. Kidman instead selected Chanel, giving the event another prominent look from a major Paris runway collection.

The arrivals included Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, and model Alex Consani. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wore a long-sleeved Gucci gown with a dramatic open back, while Sienna Miller selected an asymmetric silver look from the same label. Kidman's Chanel outfit stood apart through its pale colour palette and ballet shape.
