Sunday Rose Kidman Urban has acknowledged that her famous family gives her access to opportunities not everyone can enjoy. In a cover interview for the November issue of Vogue Germany, the 18-year-old discussed her growing modelling career, professional ambitions and approach to work.
'I'm very aware that I'm given opportunities that not everyone can have, and I'm truly grateful to be able to take advantage of them,' Sunday Rose said. She also emphasised the importance of hard work, maintaining a positive attitude and treating everyone on set with respect.
Hard Work and Professionalism
The teenager explained the standards she sets for herself. 'When I'm at work, I make sure to always give my best, never come to work with a negative attitude, no matter how tired or jet-lagged I may be, and treat everyone with respect,' she said.
Her comments reflect the approach she says she takes to modelling, from maintaining a positive attitude to respecting the people involved in each production. She also acknowledged the demands of an industry that can involve travel and long days.
From Miu Miu Runway Debut to Vogue Cover Star
Sunday Rose made her runway debut opening Miu Miu's Spring/Summer 2025 show during Paris Fashion Week on 1 October 2024. She recalled arriving backstage believing she understood modelling, only to realise how much she still had to learn. 'I remember arriving there and thinking I knew so much about modelling, but in reality, I knew nothing at all,' she said.
She was particularly struck by the work involved in staging a major fashion show, from coordination to the number of people working behind the scenes. 'There's so much work behind a show, so many people, so much organisation — it's truly insane, and it's very inspiring to see it all!' she added.
Since her debut, Sunday Rose has worked with fashion brands including Dior, Calvin Klein and Valentino. Her November magazine cover features an outdoor-themed shoot in Maine with fellow models Betsy Gaghan and Ana Beatriz Cortes, including a birdwatching excursion with an ornithologist.
Nicole Kidman Made Her Daughter Wait To Model
Sunday Rose's entry into fashion came with a clear boundary set by her mother. She revealed that she had wanted to pursue modelling since she was 14, but Kidman insisted that she wait until she was at least 16 before beginning her career. Sunday Rose eventually made her runway debut at 16, opening the Miu Miu show in Paris. The decision meant she had to wait two years before pursuing the career she had wanted to begin.
Education remains central to her routine, even as modelling takes her abroad for shows and shoots. 'School is what keeps me grounded the most when I'm modelling,' she said. She explained that travelling allows her to experience new places and meet interesting people, while returning to school gives her a familiar routine. She has also discussed the importance of staying organised and keeping up with schoolwork while balancing professional commitments.

Ambitions Beyond Modelling
Although she is establishing herself in fashion, Sunday Rose has also expressed a longstanding interest in filmmaking and directing. She recalled visiting film sets with her mother when she was younger and becoming fascinated by the work taking place behind the scenes.
She was particularly interested in watching scenes come together on the preview monitor, an experience that helped nurture her curiosity about filmmaking. Her interest in the creative process extends beyond appearing in front of the camera.
Sunday Rose named Osgood Perkins, director of Longlegs, and Emerald Fennell, known for Saltburn, among her favourite filmmakers. She also praised To Die For, the film starring her mother, and singled out its cinematography.
For now, she is balancing modelling assignments with her final year of high school while considering her next steps. Directing is another creative field she hopes to explore as she approaches the end of her education.
A Head Start in the Modelling Industry
Sunday Rose has acknowledged the advantages her famous parents bring, but her comments also highlight a wider question facing the fashion industry: how can young models compete when not everyone has the same access to opportunities?
Her debut on the Miu Miu runway and subsequent work with major fashion houses have established her as a rising name in modelling. Yet her own words underline a reality that aspiring models without famous family connections cannot ignore: talent and hard work may matter, but access to opportunity is rarely equal. The question now is not whether she has benefited from her background, but how she will use the opportunities she has been given to build a career of her own.
