Charlize Theron attended the amfAR Dallas gala on 24 October 2026 in a black-and-red Givenchy outfit whose oversized trousers gave the appearance of a floor-length gown. The actress, 51, wore the Spring 2027 design to the Texas fundraising event, where she received the Award of Inspiration.

The Award of Inspiration was given in recognition for her humanitarian and charitable work in global health initiatives. Much of her achievement also focused on her advocacy in HIV/AIDS care and prevention around the world.

A Givenchy Look With an Unexpected Shape

The outfit, designed under Givenchy creative director Sarah Burton, combined a black knitted sliced vest with dramatically wide wool pattern-piece trousers. Bright red piping traced the edges of folded panels around the hips, creating a sculptural silhouette that extended dramatically over the legs.

From a distance, the volume of the trousers made the ensemble resemble a long skirt. Closer photographs showed separate trouser legs beneath the broad folds, revealing the construction behind the illusion.

The upper section had a scoop neckline, narrow straps, and red edging. The trousers widened sharply below the waist, with panels that extended outward before falling towards the floor. Theron accessorised with Givenchy's silver powder-puff jewellery belt and black leather Mobile zipped mules.

Givenchy shared images of the look on X on 25 October, identifying a black knitted sliced vest, wool pattern-piece trousers, a powder-puff jewellery belt, and Mobile zipped mules. The brand also confirmed that Theron had received the Award of Inspiration at the gala.

The Team Behind the Red Carpet Appearance

Theron's outfit was styled by Leslie Fremar. Makeup artist Kate Lee defined her eyes, while hairstylist Adir Abergel styled her blonde hair in a swept-back look with side-swept pieces framing her face.

Her makeup included dark eye definition and a nude-toned lip. Silver earrings complemented the large metallic detail at her waist, while black footwear kept the outfit's red-and-black palette intact.

The Givenchy Spring 2027 collection provided the basis for the ensemble, but the gala appearance brought its exaggerated proportions into a formal red-carpet setting. The wide-leg shape was visible in full-length photographs taken at the event.

Fashion publications offered different interpretations of the silhouette. W Magazine compared the oversized trousers with 1990s skater style, while Red Carpet Fashion Awards highlighted the outfit's sporty aesthetic and exaggerated proportions.

Tom + Lorenzo also singled out the trousers and belt in its assessment of the outfit.

An Award for Humanitarian Work

The event was amfAR's second annual Dallas benefit gala, raising funds for HIV research and global health initiatives. Theron attended as an honouree and accepted the organisation's Award of Inspiration.

amfAR recognised Theron for her humanitarian work and longstanding support for HIV/AIDS care and prevention.

Her Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project supports the health and safety of young people in South Africa, including through HIV prevention initiatives. The project works with community-based organisations in the region.

The gala took place on Saturday, 24 October, two days before several fashion outlets published close examinations of the Givenchy outfit. Images credited to Ryan Emberley working for amfAR documented Theron on the red carpet.

The actress had also attended the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles on 17 October, wearing a black lace gown with sheer and beaded details. The Dallas look differed in construction, replacing a conventional evening dress with tailored trousers and an exaggerated silhouette.
