Kim Kardashian has been awarded just €1 after being held at gunpoint during the infamous Paris jewellery heist in 2016. After millions of dollars' worth of jewellery were taken during the terrifying ordeal, the reality star has received the equivalent of less than £1.
The tiny sum was not a mistake, though. Kardashian specifically sought symbolic damages of €1 in the civil case, instead of asking for millions in financial compensation. Her stolen jewellery included a diamond engagement ring worth around $4 million, which is roughly £3 million.

€1 Award Leaves Fans Confused
Naturally, the €1 figure had people online doing a double take.
'Requesting 1 euro after being tied up at gunpoint and losing [millions] in jewellery is Kim saying "I don't need your money, I need this chapter closed",' one person wrote, adding that it was 'a different kind of power'.
Someone else had a rather practical suggestion: 'Why not ask for the maximum and then give it to charity?'
Others were less serious. 'Kim Kardashian doesn't want money, she only wanted her shit back,' one user joked, while another quipped: 'Don't spend it all on one place, dear.'
The biggest question, however, was why Kardashian would settle for such a symbolic amount. One post asked whether the €1 was 'a publicity stunt or a serious attempt at compensation'. Another bluntly said: 'It's gotta be a joke.'
Others defended her choice. 'The euro amount is the whole point though,' one user argued, adding: 'Asking for more would've been about money when she wanted it to be about accountability.'
What Happened That Night?
The robbery took place in the early hours of 3 October 2016 while Kardashian was staying at the Hôtel de Pourtalès during the Paris Fashion Week.
Five masked men targeted the luxury residence, with two entering Kardashian's accommodation after threatening the night concierge at gunpoint. Kardashian was confronted by the attackers, restrained and locked in a bathroom as they searched for valuables.
Among the items taken was her engagement ring, alongside other jewellery. Early reports estimated the stolen items were worth around $10 million (£7.4 million), although more recent reporting has put the value at more than $6 million (approximately £4.45 million).
Kardashian later described the ordeal in emotional testimony, saying she feared she was going to be killed. 'I absolutely thought I was going to die,' she told the court. She returned to Paris to testify during the criminal trial in 2025, describing the lasting impact of the robbery.
Inside the Heist Investigation
The investigation stretched on for years before French authorities eventually identified suspects. Evidence presented during the case included DNA, CCTV footage and telephone records.
Ten people eventually faced trial in Paris in 2025 over their alleged involvement in the robbery. Eight were convicted of offences connected to the case, while two defendants were acquitted.
Aomar Aït Khedache, identified as the ringleader, received an eight-year sentence, with five years suspended. The three-year unsuspended portion was covered by time he had already spent in pre-trial detention, meaning none of the eight convicted defendants returned to prison.
Much of Kardashian's jewellery was never recovered, including the engagement ring. The latest civil ruling therefore does not replace the value of those missing possessions. Instead, the €1 award reflects the symbolic compensation Kardashian herself requested.
Nearly a decade after the robbery, the decision adds another final chapter to a case that has followed Kardashian since that frightening night in Paris. The jewellery may still be missing, but the legal proceedings have now reached another significant milestone.
