Kylie Jenner has another beauty win on her hands. Kylie Cosmetics' Coconut Water Lip Stain has been named 'Best Lip Stain' in PEOPLE's 2026 Beauty Awards, only months after the product made its debut.
The award is part of PEOPLE's 12th annual Beauty Awards, which picked 100 of the year's top beauty launches. The makeup section alone included 26 winners, with products from brands including Kylie Cosmetics, Dior, Prada, Maybelline and Rare Beauty.
Jenner celebrated the news on X on Thursday, 17 September, writing, 'ummmmm hello!!!!! new award alert!! we won the people 2026 beauty award for best lip stain: COCONUT WATER LIP STAIN!!!' The post also pointed fans to Kylie Cosmetics and Ulta Beauty, putting fresh attention on a product that arrived just four months earlier.
Kylie Cosmetics Wins Best Lip Stain
PEOPLE chose the Coconut Water Lip Stain as its 'Best Lip Stain' for 2026. The outlet highlighted its coconut water and glycerin formula, saying the tints help lips look and feel hydrated.

The win comes after PEOPLE staff tested new beauty launches to choose this year's winners. Other lip winners included Haus Labs for lip liner, Guerlain for lipstick, Revlon for lip plumper and Good Weather Skin for tinted lip SPF.
That puts Jenner's stain among a wide mix of major beauty names. While one award cannot show whether a product will become a long-term hit, it gives the young launch a notable mark of approval only months into its run.
What Makes the Coconut Water Lip Stain Different?
The £18 ($24) stain is made with coconut water and glycerin, two ingredients Kylie Cosmetics says help keep lips hydrated. The brand says the formula gives buildable colour with a natural sheen and a smudge-resistant finish.
Kylie Cosmetics also claims the stain can provide up to 24 hours of moisture. In a one-week use test of 28 women aged 25 to 73, 97 per cent said it was smudge-proof, while 93 per cent said it was non-drying.
The applicator is also different from a standard smooth doe foot. Kylie Cosmetics describes it as fibre-lined and says it is made to smooth and soften the lips as the product is applied.
Five Shades Made for Easy Wear
The Coconut Water Lip Stain launched in May 2026 as part of Kylie Cosmetics' summer lip range. It arrived alongside the Cloud Balm, with both products built around moisture and light textures.
There are five stain shades: Pink Taffy, a cool pink; Blossom, a coral rose; Cherry Burst, a warm red; Sugar Cone, a warm nude; and Butterscotch, a rose brown. Each was introduced at £18 ($24) in the US.
Users can swipe the product straight onto their lips and leave its natural sheen in place. Kylie Cosmetics also suggests blotting the formula for more of a stained finish or pairing it with a lip liner.
The Lip Stain Was Already Getting Attention
The PEOPLE award is not the first praise the Coconut Water Lip Stain has received since its May launch. Marie Claire named it its 'Best New Lip Stain' among its May 2026 beauty launches, with an editor praising its light feel, natural-looking colour and Pink Taffy shade.
Bustle editors also included the product among their favourite May beauty launches. One editor said the coconut water and glycerin formula stood out because it did not have the dry feel she often linked with lip stains.
Customer feedback is more mixed, as is common with makeup products. Ulta Beauty currently lists the stain at 4.3 out of five stars from 190 reviews, giving another sign that shoppers have had varied but largely positive experiences with the formula.
Could It Become Kylie's Next Cult Product?
Kylie Cosmetics first became known for lip products, making the Coconut Water Lip Stain a natural fit for the brand. This new stain, however, is built around a lighter look that mixes colour with moisture instead of relying on a heavier liquid lipstick feel.
Its early signs are strong: a major beauty award, praise from beauty editors and a 4.3-star Ulta rating. Still, whether it reaches true 'cult product' status will depend on how shoppers respond over time, not just its first few months on sale.
For now, Jenner has good reason to celebrate. The Coconut Water Lip Stain entered the market in May and, by September, had already picked up PEOPLE's title for the best lip stain of 2026.
