Savannah Chrisley has called people 'quick to judge' after her previously undisclosed marriage to convicted fraudster Jason Galanis emerged days after she publicly announced her pregnancy and engagement. The 29-year-old addressed the attention on Instagram Stories on 31 October, describing the world as 'incredibly cruel'.

Her statement followed revelations that the couple had married in July and contrasting reactions from members of their families. Chrisley did not identify individual critics or directly discuss her husband's convictions, instead focusing on faith, judgement and her personal happiness.

Rather than offer a detailed rebuttal, she described choosing not to engage with every accusation. The message emphasised her personal happiness and religious beliefs.

Jason Galanis Relationship Divides Family Opinion

Chrisley's father, Todd, acknowledged initial reservations about the relationship but said Galanis had treated his daughter respectfully. During a podcast appearance, he said: 'I love Savannah with my heart and soul, but did I advocate for this? No, but I will tell you that he has treated her with the utmost of respect.'

Galanis' estranged brother, Derek, gave a contrasting assessment in an interview with TMZ on 30 October, saying he did not believe prison had changed Jason. He also alleged that his brother had been conning people throughout his life; those were Derek's claims, not findings of further criminal wrongdoing.

What Jason Galanis' Fraud Case Involved

Galanis, 56, received a 189-month prison sentence on 24 September 2020 after pleading guilty that January to charges connected to multiple fraud schemes. The US Department of Justice identified offences involving Gerova Financial Group shareholders, investment advisory clients, and bonds issued by a Native American tribal entity.

In the tribal bond scheme, prosecutors said proceeds were not transferred to the investment manager specified in the bond documents and significant sums were misappropriated. The department said Galanis diverted more than $8.5 million (roughly £6.3 million) for personal spending, including property-related expenses, jewellery, clothing, travel and entertainment.

"Jason Galanis orchestrated two multimillion-dollar fraud schemes, and hid behind a team of co-conspirators to conceal his involvement and defy an SEC ban. He and his codefendants engaged in market manipulation and the defrauding of shareholders, and they stole a large portion of the proceeds of tribal bonds that were intended to fund economic development projects," Acting U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss said.

President Donald Trump commuted Galanis' sentence on 28 March 2025, with the official warrant directing his immediate release. It reduced his entire sentence to time served, with 'no further fines, restitution, probation, or other conditions'.

The action was a commutation, not a pardon, and did not overturn his convictions. Galanis had also served time at the same federal prison camp in Pensacola, Florida, as Chrisley's father.

Savannah Chrisley's Marriage Timeline

Chrisley said Galanis proposed in the Cayman Islands in December 2025, before she publicly announced her pregnancy and discussed the engagement on 27 October 2026. Marriage records obtained by People placed their wedding on 14 July at the Cayman Islands Baptist Church.

She also discussed wedding plans originally scheduled for January 2027, which she said had been postponed until May because of her pregnancy. Her Instagram statement did not explain how that planned event related to the July marriage.

Chrisley Previously Addressed Their Age Gap

On the 27 October episode of her Unlocked podcast, Chrisley linked her decision to keep details private to concerns about their 27-year age gap. 'There is a huge age gap there,' she said, explaining that she knew 'how brutal the public can be'.

Her later Instagram message ended with gratitude: 'My heart is full. My blessings are immeasurable.' She added: 'And my faith is stronger than any storm this world could ever bring.'
