Fendi Croissant bag
Fendi has revived its curved Croissant Bag for Cruise 2027, nearly 3 decades after its runway debut Fendi Official Website

Fendi is serving up a familiar handbag for Cruise 2027, and it's been in the fashion house's recipe book for nearly three decades. The Italian luxury house has reimagined its Croissant Bag, the curved shoulder bag first unveiled on the Fall/Winter 1999–2000 runway. Now, Maria Grazia Chiuri has given the archival design a fresh batch of finishes, ranging from Fendi's signature FF Zucca jacquard to sequins, crackled leather, and animal prints.

The Croissant's return also comes during Chiuri's new era at Fendi, giving the chief creative officer another piece of the house's archives to play around with. Unlike the flaky French pastry that inspired its name, however, this Croissant is designed to serve looks way after breakfast and brunch have been finished.

Fendi's Croissant Bag Is Back on the Menu

The Croissant was originally introduced as an extension of Fendi's Baguette, another food-named handbag that became one of the house's most recognisable accessories. Evidently, Fendi has a penchant for transforming a wide array of French bread into the next trending purse in your rotation.

Its name is not exactly difficult to decipher. The compact bag curves into a crescent shape, complete with a flap and Fendi's signature FF buckle. For the Cruise 2027 collection, that silhouette remains intact, while the materials get a bigger makeover.

One version comes dressed in elegant brown FF Zucca jacquard with ebony black calfskin details and gold-finish hardware. Those looking for something moodier can opt for black crackled calfskin with palladium-finish hardware, while sequin-covered versions take the Croissant into party territory.

Fendi has also experimented with animalier designs and fringe, giving the late-'90s silhouette several personalities for its 2027 comeback. Despite its compact size, Fendi says the Croissant can hold a 6.7-inch smartphone, plus a small wallet or card holder, keys, and lipstick. An adjustable shoulder strap allows it to sit under the arm or be worn crossbody.

In essence, the tiny bag can fit a miniature version of your life. Plus, unlike an actual croissant, there is room for more than butter and strawberry jam inside.

The 2027 Croissant Comes With a Luxury Price Tag

Naturally, ordering a Croissant from Fendi costs a little more than buying one from the local bakery, but it's worth it if you want a delicious wardrobe upgrade for a leafy fall walk or your next holiday. On Fendi's US website, the FF Zucca jacquard version is currently listed at $1,900 (£1,400), while a black crackled leather design costs $2,100 (£1,600). Other variations climb beyond $3,000 (£2,300), including sequin-covered options for shoppers who prefer their pastries with substantially more sparkle and crunch.

The fashion house recently celebrated the archival bag's return in Los Angeles alongside WYouth, with Paris Hilton and Delilah Belle Hamlin among the guests. Twenty-seven years after its massive runway debut, the Croissant has therefore found its way back onto Fendi's lavish menu without losing the curved silhouette that earned it its name. Breakfast may be the most important meal of the day, but apparently, it can also be the most fashionable.
