Kim Kardashian allegedly had a gun held to her head during a 2018 trip to Uganda with her then-husband, Kanye West, after he suspected people were trying to drug him, according to a new biography. Journalist Jonathan Van Meter recounts the alleged incident in his book, Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future, drawing on the recollections of Farnaz Farjam, an executive producer who worked on Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

Farjam reportedly told Van Meter that the trip marked a turning point in her understanding of the couple's relationship difficulties. According to her account, West became increasingly suspicious during their stay at a remote location, prompting a confrontation involving local police.

The situation allegedly escalated until one officer held a gun to Kardashian's head, according to Van Meter's account. The book recounts the incident through Farjam's recollections, but the available reporting does not establish whether it was independently investigated or corroborated.

West Allegedly Suspected People Were Trying To Drug Him

Van Meter writes that Farjam first realised how serious the couple's relationship difficulties had become during their October 2018 trip to Uganda, where the group was filming at a remote location. According to Farjam's account in the book, West became convinced that people were trying to drug him and persuaded local police to investigate.

'He basically got the local police to believe that there were people trying to drug him, and so they came and they had guns out,' she reportedly told Van Meter. Farjam added that the officers searched the rooms at the property where the group was staying. According to Van Meter's account, the situation became particularly frightening for Kardashian when one of the policemen allegedly held a gun to her head.

Van Meter recounts the moment in the biography, writing: 'One of the policemen had a gun to Kim's head.' Farjam reportedly described the experience as 'intense', although the published account does not establish whether the incident was independently investigated or corroborated.

Producer Arranged Private Jet to Get Crew Out

Farjam said the incident was serious enough that she eventually arranged a private jet to get her crew out of the country. 'I ended up having to get a private jet and get my crew out of there,' she reportedly told Van Meter.

Her recollections offer a glimpse into the tensions surrounding Kardashian and West's relationship before their eventual separation. Van Meter presents the Uganda trip as a moment when the extent of their difficulties became apparent to those working alongside them.

According to Page Six, Farjam later said she forgave West because he lived with bipolar disorder and was in what she described as a manic state. Her explanation reflects her own perspective on the events rather than independently establishing the cause of his alleged behaviour at the time.

Kardashian Still Worries About Her Ex-Husband

Kardashian and West married in 2014, and their divorce was finalised in 2022. They share four children: North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm.

Elsewhere in the biography, Kardashian opened up about the emotional burden of co-parenting with her former husband, acknowledging that she continues to worry about him despite their relationship difficulties. 'Oh, I worry about [Kanye] all day. All the time. That's the father of my kids, I'll never not worry about him,' she told Van Meter, according to Page Six.

Kardashian also spoke about shielding her children from the negative aspects of their parents' relationship. She described their current interactions as relatively peaceful, saying they hug when they see each other and that things have been 'pretty smooth for a while'.

She suggested that limited communication had helped maintain that stability. Her comments indicate that, despite their past difficulties, she remains concerned about West's wellbeing and the impact their relationship could have on their children.

Van Meter did not interview West for the biography, explaining that he did not believe it would be ethical to interview someone he felt was experiencing a mental health crisis. He did, however, speak extensively with Kardashian about her former husband and her continuing concerns for the father of her children.
